Auckland’s food scene is a fantastic mix of cultures, but there’s something special about the rich, aromatic flavours of Nepalese cuisine.
You’ll find delicate momos, fragrant herbs, and spices that warm you from the inside out. Diners from Nepal can find a taste of home, while curious foodies discover their next favourite meal.
Finding that perfect spot, however, can be a challenge. That’s why we’ve put together this guide to the best Nepalese restaurants in Auckland, highlighting places that deliver an authentic and memorable Himalayan dining experience.
The list includes spots for a casual weeknight dinner as well as destinations perfect for a special celebration.
How much does dining in Nepalese restaurants cost in Auckland?
Dining out for Nepalese food in Auckland is generally quite affordable and offers great value. You can usually grab a generous plate of delicious momos for around $15 to $20. For main courses like a hearty goat curry or a traditional thali set, you can expect to pay anywhere from $22 to $35. This pricing makes Nepalese cuisine an accessible choice for a casual weeknight dinner or a relaxed weekend feast with family and friends.
1. Everest Dine

Website: https://everestdine.co.nz/
Address: 193 Parnell Road, Parnell, Auckland 1052
Contact: 09 303 2468
Schedule: Monday, 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM | Wednesday – Sunday, 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Must-Try: Nepalese Goat Curry
If you’re looking for true authenticity, Everest Dine is the place to start. Their focus on traditional cooking methods is clear, and you can taste it in every dish.
I went there a few weeks ago to try their goat curry after hearing it was the best in the city. It completely lived up to the hype. The meat was tender, and the complex spices created a deep, lasting flavour.
The service was another standout. The staff were welcoming and genuinely passionate about sharing their culture through food.
While the refined but comfortable atmosphere suits a special occasion, the only small catch is that Parnell parking can be a mission during peak hours. Still, for a meal this good, it’s a minor inconvenience.

We dined on a weekday so there were less people. The server was really nice and since it was our first time trying there, we were given a complimentary dish.
The momos were big and filling. All the dishes were generous in portions. Moreover, they were all yummy.
Service was superb. We will definitely try here again. Highly recommended!

Had an amazing experience at Everest Dine! The food was absolutely delicious — the momo was super juicy and flavorful, and the masala tea (even though it wasn’t on the menu) was so good. The thali set was fire too, packed with so many tasty dishes. I loved it so much I had to come back for a second visit! Highly recommend if you’re after authentic Nepalese and Indian food in Auckland.

Must-Try: Lamb Thali Set
Timmur stands out by celebrating the unique Himalayan spice that gives the restaurant its name.
I love places that introduce me to new flavours, and their use of Timmur pepper has been interesting to the palate. It has a unique citrusy kick that leaves a slight tingle on your tongue and elevates dishes in a way I hadn’t experienced before.
The restaurant itself has a wonderfully warm and immersive atmosphere where Nepalese and Indian aesthetics meet.
I found the staff helpful in explaining the menu and suggesting dishes that highlighted the unique spice.
They also have a BYOW (Bring Your Own Wine) policy, which is always a bonus. The place can get quite popular, especially on weekends, so booking ahead is a smart move to guarantee a table.
Otherwise, this Avondale spot delivers a memorable and flavourful adventure.

Mt Everest Kitchen is my go-to, especially when I’m with friends who all want something different.
Their massive menu is an experience, moving between authentic Nepalese classics, rich Indian curries, and even some tasty Indo-Chinese dishes.
Every time I’ve been, I’m impressed by how fresh all the ingredients taste, and the generous portions mean you never leave hungry.
The complex layering of spices in each dish points to real skill in the kitchen. I also love the BYO wine option that helps make for a relaxed and affordable weeknight dinner.

Contact: 09 600 2692

Visiting Indreni feels less like going to a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone’s home. The staff always checks in with a smile, making sure every guest feels looked after.
They even offered me a complimentary drink once on a particularly hot day, a personal touch that makes the place memorable.
The food is just as welcoming and is both delicious and affordable. I personally swear by their Goat Biryani and Saag Kofta.
Its Royal Oak location is convenient for locals, but it can be a bit of a drive if you’re coming from the City Centre. For a meal that feels like a warm hug, however, it’s always well worth the trip.

If you love combining great food with a beautiful view, Gorkha Eastern Beach is your spot.
It’s my go-to when I’m in the area, especially since the menu covers Nepalese, Indian, and Indo-Chinese dishes, which helps satisfy everyone in a group with different tastes.
Grabbing takeaway from here and enjoying it right on the beach is a fantastic experience. I’ve done this a few times, and I can tell you the quality is always impressive.
Their Chicken Momos and Goat Curry are definite must-tries.
Because of its prime beachside location, it can get quite busy, especially on sunny weekends. Booking ahead or preparing for a short wait is a good idea.
Another thing to keep in mind is that delivery can be a bit slow during their peak hours, which are typically 6 PM to 8 PM. Also, they have a 10km delivery radius, so you might want to double-check if you’re in their zone.

During our travel through New Zealand we came by this cozy restaurant with beach view. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We had a Maharaja banquet, which means 4 entrees, 4 curries and dessert. We got advised by the waiter and got surprised by a load of delicious flavours. 10 out of 10, thanks for the food and hospitality!
