After a frantic call to a local repair service, I was met with less-than-stellar results. I’m talking about shoddy fixes and a lingering musty smell that no amount of air freshener could disguise.
It was a lesson learned the hard way, and it sent me down a rabbit hole of research on the best HVAC companies around.
With the help of my fellow colleagues at Auckland Magazine, we interviewed former customers and spoke with various company representatives.
Whether you’re looking to install a new system or simply seeking a trustworthy service provider, here are the most reputable HVAC companies that Auckland has to offer.

Many of their customers appreciated their flexibility, as you can either pick from their off-the-shelf equipment or go for a custom-designed system.
Plus, Thermo Tech manages the whole process from start to finish. This takes the load off their clients’ shoulders and creates a smooth experience.
Others were pretty impressed with the technician team for how they kept things neat and tidy. Who doesn’t want that, right?
What’s more, the team worked efficiently with minimal disruption.
When it comes to maintenance, customers raved about their rapid response times. If something breaks down, they prioritise those calls based on urgency and dispatch a technician almost immediately.
That said, a few people mentioned that they didn’t always know what to expect during repairs, which left them feeling a bit out of the loop.

We hopped on a free advice call with RVS, and they were super informative. They laid out all the perks of their HVAC systems, and, lo and behold, all of their products come with a solid 5-year warranty.
In particular, RVS’ solutions use dry air from your roof to kick out all that stale air in your home.
If you’re worried about allergens, their systems come with F7 (MERV13) hospital-grade filters. Even better, you can control the temperature from your phone!
When we spoke with other customers, they swore by the reliability of the fans. This is thanks to some high-quality German tech RVS uses from Ebm-papst.
Many told us their homes felt fresher and way more comfortable.
During our call with them, they also told us their heat pumps come in a bunch of colours and designs, so you don’t have to sacrifice looks for functionality.
That said, they took about two days to get back to us after our initial enquiry.

In addition to this stellar system, many people also liked how the company’s free home assessment felt thorough but not overwhelming.
The HRV team took the time to explain everything in simple terms, which made it super easy to understand what was going on in their homes.
