Leading a business in Auckland can be a lonely grind. You’re the one making the big calls, but who do you turn to when you’re stuck in a rut?
Maybe sales have stalled, your team feels directionless, or you’re dreaming of an exit but have no map. This is where a top-tier business consultant steps in.
A great consultant acts as a fresh set of expert eyes, a strategic partner, and the accountability you need to get things moving.
We’ve vetted the best business consultants in Auckland to help you find the right fit.
How much does business consulting cost in Auckland?
So, what’s the damage? Prices for a business consultant in Auckland vary widely. For a one-off strategy day or a specific workshop, you might budget a few thousand dollars.
Many consultants prefer an ongoing relationship, which usually means a monthly retainer. This can be anywhere from $1,500 to $5,000+, depending on their expertise.
For a deep-dive project, like a full operational turnaround or getting your business ready for sale, you’ll be looking at a fixed project fee, which could easily start at $10,000 and go up from there.
1. Business Changing

- Website: https://www.businesschanging.com/
- Address: Level 1, Unit 2, 74 France Street South, Eden Terrace, Auckland
- Contact: 021 141 1983 and [email protected]
- Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Business Changing is all about “business without the bafflement.” If you’re over consultants who hide behind jargon, this is your team.
Their focus is on giving down-to-earth, practical advice that you can actually use. The founder, Zac de Silva, is a chartered accountant but has the real-world grit of an entrepreneur who’s built and sold businesses.
The firm focuses on measurable outcomes, with impressive stats on client profit growth and successful exits. I’ve spoken to a few owners who’ve used them, and they all said they walked away from the workshop with an actual, step-by-step plan.
The only thing to note is that the brand is built very tightly around Zac, so his personal availability is a key factor.
Customer Reviews
Inspiring business workshop hosted by Zac. The space is comfortable and cosy, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are served, these are all very important because the workshop is intense. You go through a lot in a relatively short time, but it really is worth it because after the workshop you walk away with a clear and solid business plan that outlines all the strategies and tactics required to make your business successful. Big shout out to Sip and Malyna too, for their amazing food and hospitality.

Our team came away from the one-day strategy and planning workshop encouraged, inspired, and ready to roll out the plans for the next twelve months. We’re very excited about the possibilities we are creating through having spent valuable time with Zac and Business Changing. Thank you.

2. Grumley+Company

- Website: https://www.grumley.co/
- Address: 43A Brown Street, Ponsonby, Auckland
- Contact: 09 390 5958, 02 8218 2167, and [email protected]
- Schedule: By appointment.
What makes Grumley+Company different is that you’re getting advice from someone who is currently doing it.
Founder Toss Grumley isn’t a retired CEO.
He’s an active director and shareholder in multiple seven-figure businesses. This means his strategies are battle-tested in today’s market, not just theory from his MBA.
Their system is highly structured, starting with an intense full-day session followed by quarterly check-ins to hold you accountable.
You’ll see some big-name brands on their client list, which indicates their standing. This high-level access comes at a premium, however.
They have very limited availability, so they’re clearly looking for clients who are serious and ready to go.
Customer Reviews
Working with Toss has been genuinely life-changing. His clarity, strategic thinking, and ability to cut through the noise has helped me grow both personally and professionally. Toss brings a unique blend of empathy and accountability that pushes you to level up—highly recommend his coaching to anyone serious about evolving their business and mindset.

3. nextAdvisory

- Website: https://nextadvisory.nz/
- Address: 48 Greys Avenue, Auckland Central, Auckland
- Contact: 027 424 3442 (Luke) and 021 430 419 (Phil)
- Schedule: By appointment.
nextAdvisory is the answer for anyone who wishes their accountant was also their business coach. They are Chartered Accountants, but they’ve thrown out the old, reactive model.
Instead of just doing your year-end taxes, they focus on proactive, year-round growth advice. Their branding as “Good Characters” fits well as they’re relatable and explain complex finance in plain language.
A friend of mine uses them and loves their fixed-fee model. He said it’s a relief to know he can call with a “dumb question” and not get a surprise bill.
Their high-energy, “unconventional” vibe is a significant benefit for many, but it might not suit a business owner looking for a more formal, traditional advisor.
Customer Reviews
We recently completed a 12-month business coaching course with Next Advisory. Excellent! We are in the coaching game but had nobody to help guide us, hold us to account and help us to see things from a different perspective.
Highly recommend Luke and Phil… 5 stars from us

Switching to working with Luke and Phil was a breeze, and the results have been nothing short of fantastic. The support is easy to access, and they talk to you like normal humans—not in confusing accountant-speak. The best part? You’re working with business owners who have big aspirations themselves, so they actually get it.

4. The Engine

- Website: https://theengine.biz/
- Address: 3A Tarndale Grove, Rosedale, Auckland
- Contact: 09 869 3990 and [email protected]
- Schedule: By appointment
The Engine’s model is built on one simple truth: being a business owner is lonely.
They tackle this head-on by providing a holistic support system through the “A-Team Community.”
The “A-Team” is a pre-vetted hub of specialists in marketing, legal, HR, and finance. This saves you the stress of finding trusted partners yourself, as they’re all in one place.
Founder Catherine Cooke uses her own story of building a 90-person company—and nearly losing it—as a powerful source of practical, empathetic advice. Their motto is “delegate to elevate,” helping owners focus on high-level strategy.
This all-in-one approach is effective, but it might be more than you need if you’re just looking to solve one specific, isolated problem.
Customer Reviews
I’ve known Catherine at The Engine since the start of my business journey. Since the beginning, Catherine has always made herself available to help me with any and every problem I’ve faced. Her selfless nature and experience in business has made her such an important part of my journey so far. Thank you Catherine <3 Alex

5. Rise Advisory

- Website: https://riseadvisory.co.nz/
- Address: Suite A 166 Kitchener Road, Milford, Auckland
- Contact: 0800 747 323 and [email protected]
- Schedule: Mon-Fri 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
If you run a trade business, Rise Advisory should be at the top of your list. Their focus is incredibly specific, and that’s their key strength.
The founder, Jerome Jacobs, isn’t just a consultant. He spent 25 years running his own mechanical business.
He intimately understands the unique challenges of the trades, including managing teams on-site and wrangling cash flow with suppliers. His framework is built to give owners control over their “Time, Team, and Money.”
They showcase multiple case studies with hard numbers, proving their methods get results. They also collaborate with your existing accountant and H&S advisors, which is a smart, collaborative approach.
Naturally, this tight specialisation means they may not be the right fit for businesses like retail or tech.
Customer Reviews
Working with Jerome has been a great help to my business. He is knowledgeable and experienced across a wide range of fields and has helped me with my team, financials, and goal setting. He always makes time to follow up on our meetings and ensures everything is running smoothly. Highly recommend to make your trade business more profitable.
