We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Let’s be honest, finding a great bike shop in Auckland can sometimes feel like a mission.

You might be a seasoned pro trying to shave seconds off your time, or you could be looking for a safe, comfy ride for weekend trips with the family.

Either way, you need a shop that gets it.

Auckland’s got a buzzing cycling scene, which is awesome, but it also means there are tons of options. So, I’ve done the legwork for you.

This guide cuts through the noise to show you the perfect spots for your bike, your budget, and your style.

How Much Does Bike Servicing Cost in Auckland?

So, what’s this going to cost? To keep your bike happy, a basic tune-up will set you back around $50 to $60.

If your ride needs some serious TLC, a full-on comprehensive service starts at about $90.

For those annoying one-off problems, a flat tyre fix begins at $30, getting a wobbly wheel straightened is about $50, and sorting out your hydraulic brakes is around $45.Got a special project? Most shops work on an hourly rate of about $90 for custom jobs.

For the full, once-a-year overhaul where they check literally everything, plan on spending about $250 to $330.

Just keep in mind that any new parts are extra, and specific jobs like fixing a flat or servicing a complex e-bike will have their own costs.

a-bike-shop

Website: http://www.abikeshop.co.nz/
Address: 890 New North Road, Mt Albert, Auckland 1025
Contact: 09 8166 890 / [email protected]
Hours: Mon – By Appointment, Tue, Wed, Thu 10 AM – 6 PM, Fri-Sat 10 AM – 5 PM

I have a real soft spot for local, independent shops, and A Bike Shop in Mt. Albert is the real deal.

It’s run by true mechanics who are passionate about building people their dream bikes.

Their service menu is super clear, so you know exactly what you’re paying for, which I always appreciate. No hidden surprises, just honest work.

But the coolest thing they offer? A wheel demo program. I actually got to test-drive a fancy new wheelset on my own bike before buying.

It’s a brilliant “try before you buy” idea that gives you so much confidence in your purchase.

My only gripe is that you have to plan ahead for a weekend visit because of their hours, which can be tricky when you’re working all week. Still, the quality of service is worth it.

Pros

  • Independent and community-focused service
  • Specialises in custom bike builds
  • Unique “try before you buy” wheel demo program
  • Detailed, multi-tiered servicing options
  • Performs specialised technical work

Cons

  • Limited weekend operating hours
  • By appointment only on Mondays

If you love a good deal, 99 Bikes should be on your radar. Their price guarantee is a huge plus.

A buddy of mine was new to cycling and wanted a solid bike without the guesswork. He headed to the Manukau store and was blown away by the selection.

The showroom features everything from a child’s first two-wheeler to high-end road bikes, with options available for nearly any budget.

He told me the staff were awesome, super friendly, and helped him find the perfect entry-level mountain bike without making him feel pressured.

They also have a 30-day exchange policy, so he felt safe with his decision.

The only catch he ran into was that his specific size had to be ordered in, so he had to wait a few days. But for the price and service, it was a minor inconvenience.

  • 30-day “Perfect Ride Guarantee” exchange policy
  • Extensive range of bikes for all budgets
  • On-site workshop for service and repairs

Customer Reviews

I’m extremely grateful to Vinnie and the staff at 99bikes Manukau for their exceptional service. After my bike was mishandled by airport staff, resulting in bent rotors, Vinnie went above and beyond to fix the issue on Boxing Day, even staying after hours. Their dedication and kindness saved my holiday. Massive thanks!

Customer Reviews

I went to Rouleur to potentially buy a bike. Karl listened closely to what my needs are, asked good questions about my rides, and recommended the ideal bike for me. As he said in store, I can show you other bikes, but this is the one you need. He was right, the bike is amazing. I coupled this with a bike fit, which I though was extravagant given I am only an amateur weekend rider. However this bike fit, together with the advice Karl gave me has transformed my riding experience. Karl and his team have my trust, and with their input have elevated my enthusiasm for cycling.

Karl just did an incredible bike fit for my (new used) P5 tri bike. They are the top Cervelo dealers. Considerable effort by him + lots of fine tuning. Very patient on all my questions and a wealth of experience and knowledge. Well worth travelling to. Support NZ LBS owner operators

Thinking of going electric? My uncle was, and he found his perfect ride at Electrify NZ.

As their name suggests, e-bikes are all they do, and that specialised knowledge makes a huge difference.

He was a bit nervous about the whole e-bike thing, but he said the crew there was amazing. They made him feel comfortable by listening to his needs to find the right bike for him.

They insisted he test-ride a few different models to see what felt right, which he really appreciated. They stock high-quality brands, so you know you’re getting something built to last.

He did mention the price tag was a bit higher than some online stores, but for him, knowing he has solid local support and after-sales service from experts made it a no-brainer.

Pros

  • One of New Zealand’s dedicated e-bike specialists
  • Free test rides to find the perfect bike
  • Nationwide network of locally owned stores
  • Strong focus on quality products and after-sales support
  • Knowledgeable and pressure-free staff

Cons

  • The initial cost of bikes can be higher than competitors
  • Limited selection of non-electric bikes and gear
