Have you ever been in that place where you’ve just had way too many bus rides, and said, “That’s it! I’m getting a scooter!” If so, good call! It’s a smart move.
But wait – do you know where to start?
With so many shops in Auckland, it can be hard to tell who’s genuinely helpful and who’s just trying to upsell.
So we did the legwork, bouncing from store to store, to find the ones that really know their stuff, from features to warranties. It took us a while, but we finally found the most noteworthy electric scooter shops in Auckland.
If you’re ready to upgrade or find your first e-scooter, check this out.
How much does an electric scooter cost in Auckland?
The cost of an electric scooter in Auckland ranges from $499 to $2,999. Price depends on the model and make, as well as any accessories or upgrades made upon purchase.
1. Electric Scooter Shop

Location: 74 Barrys Point Road, Takapuna
Contact: +6494456969
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Saturday – Sunday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Established in 2016 and after a recent merger with FreedPEV, now offering North Shore and CBD locations, both under the Electric Scooter Shop brand.
They’re particularly ideal for first-time buyers who need in-depth purchasing guidance. They have a solid range of new makes and models for beginners to choose from.
The test-ride experience is another major draw. Walk-ins are welcome without pressure, plus the staff is right by your side to explain all the features. Even for online/phone queries, though, the staff is easy to reach.
We were also impressed by their services. Customers can book same-day tire repairs, and in the case of pre-bookings, they even guarantee same-day booking or it’s free.
The after-sales service is also robust. Past buyers we interviewed all mentioned how thoughtful the follow-ups were, with post-purchase support that comes with spare parts. The best part is that they carry components even for scooters no longer in production.
While a small number of reviews have suggested room to refine certain processes, the overwhelming majority praise the professionalism, responsiveness, and willingness of staff to go the extra mile.

Opening Hours: Monday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Tuesday – Friday 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Saturday 10:00 AM 3:00 PM
With Storm Rides, we were particularly impressed by their consultative approach to sales. They’re very patient explaining each feature, plus they seamlessly handle everything – from paperwork to test rides, buyers don’t have to lift a finger.
Even online buyers noted that email inquiries were answered quickly. We also liked that the recommendations they offer are tailored to the customer, not generic. It’s the little touches that elevate the experience.
The shop excels in variety too. They carry some of the world’s top brands, including Kaabo, Segway, and Dualtron. We like that they offer price matching to offer the best rates, as well as extended 3-year warranties on select brands.
The after-sales support is just as robust. They carry a wide range of parts, both in-store and online (free shipping for orders over $299). Plus, they have an NZ-wide servicing network, so their customers can deal with issues conveniently.
Their warranty and repair services are handled professionally, and overall service quality remains excellent.
Pleasing quality and communication
“Caleb and Jordan were a pleasure to deal with. They assisted me in securing the e-Scooter I was after and the necessary admin around WorkRide, making it a swift transaction. I’m pleased with the vehicle quality, the communication (throughout the the sales inquiry, order and collection process) and the follow-up item (gloves) I purchased from Storm Rides. Looking forward future dealings with them (products & services).”

3. HONEY WHALE

Location: 13F Piermark Drive, Rosedale
Contact: +6492223398
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM, Sunday: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
When it comes to the quality of the scooter, Honey Whale is a pretty solid option. According to most buyers, this shop is their go-to whenever they’re looking for affordable options that still deliver with performance.
To give examples, they have entry-level uniques like the E9 Pro and E9T that only cost $499, including GST. There are also heavier models like the H2 Dual 2400W that deliver hill-climbing torque.
While positioned at a higher price point, the shop has periodically promoted sales and special offers. Prospective buyers are encouraged to compare prices and promotions before purchasing.
We also liked their 3-year warranty on select models, as well as the scale of their repair services. They’re not only within Auckland, but can service areas like Wellington and Christchurch too.
Spare parts are also available for convenience, and replacements are often shipped within 3 to 5 business days for self-installation.
We just wish they had a better, full-sized showroom for their scooter. While their location is convenient for browsing, buyers may find the space limiting for any serious on-site tests.
Worth the money
“I love this electric scooter! It’s super easy to ride and feels really smooth. The battery lasts a long time and charges pretty fast. It goes up hills without a problem and stops quickly when I need it to. It also folds up easily, so I can carry it or put it in my car. Perfect for getting around town or to work. Totally worth the money — highly recommend!”

4. Electrify NZ Auckland City

Location: 366 Great North Road, Grey Lynn
Contact: +6498892019
Opening Hours: Monday – Thursday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Friday: 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Electrify already made a strong impression on us during our first visit. They accommodate walk-ins with no issues. They also answer questions thoroughly, never pressuring clients to look for models beyond their budget.
We particularly liked their approach to demo rides. Customers are encouraged to take their time, and test runs are often conducted on real streets. The team made adjustments to seats and handlebars to make the buyers feel comfortable.
Their product selection includes a small but strong range of electric scooters. This includes high-performance models like Kaabo Mantis X Pro and Inmotion Climber. Prices are fair, with seasonal discounts up to $850 off.
Their after-sales support is another strong point. Clients we interviewed all said that service requests and quotes were fast, sometimes even within the day, if possible. Their complimentary 6-week service is also a major win.
Downside is that they have a limited scooter inventory compared to their e-bike offerings. Buyers eyeing specific brands and models may have a hard time here, though we still think that what they have is pretty solid.
Professional and knowledgeable staff
“The staff acknowledged me when I walked through the door and were extremely helpful without being pushy. The sales person was able to answer all my questions. The test ride was also not a problem and I was encouraged to take all the time I needed. There was only 5 days between paying the deposit and delivery and after a very thorough briefing I was happily on my way with my brand new bike.”

5. Kiwi Hoverboard, Electric Scooter & E bike

Location: 102A Leonard Road, Mount Wellington
Contact: +6492820597
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Saturday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
The store has all the essentials we’re looking for in a scooter shop. They offer everything from entry-level models for kids to high-performance scooters, all at favorable prices.
Apart from the great prices, the shop also offers discounts here and there, so buyers can save a couple of hundred per unit. It’s not as frequent as most shops, but the discounted pricing is still close to rivaling the others.
The team’s knowledge is evident too – they ask about your commuting needs, weight, terrain, and budget, before recommending options. Sometimes, they may even offer upgrades or free accessories (usually depending on the model you buy.
Post-sales support is also a solid factor. Repairs have a quick turnaround time, completing the project within the day. On top of that, they include a 1-year unlimited kilometre warranty on most models, which is a major plus.
However, we’ve heard a few complaints from some customers who were denied service by the shop because their repairs weren’t covered under warranty. We strongly advise you to check your warranty conditions, so you can be accommodated with no issues.
Helpful and courteous
“I purchased a TNE Prometheus electric scooter from Kiwi Hoverboards. The scooter arrived with a flat a flat rear tire which I didn’t notice until I rode it a few km and by then I had damaged the brake line against the tire. I advised Kiwi Hoverboards of the problem and they immediately dispatched a replacement tire and brake line for me as well as offering to have the scooter returned for repair. At all times they were helpful and courteous. I definitely recommend purchasing from Kiwi Hoverboards.”
