One time, my sister and I ventured into what was advertised as an “exclusive massage haven” and ended up at a place that smelled less like aromatherapy oils and more like sweat and questionable feet.
We really should’ve left then, but you know how it is. You get oddly bullish at times!
Well, things didn’t improve. The massage therapists at that place seemed to have learned their craft from a series of aggressive wrestling matches. We emerged more in need of chiropractic intervention than when we entered.
Since then we’ve done our research and after more massages than we can count, we’ve found all the best massage places in Auckland. So, if you’re in need of a relaxing massage, here’s our list of the ones that offer the best experience.
How much does it cost to get a massage in Auckland? In Auckland, you can expect to spend at least 50 NZD on a basic full body massage. This price is just an estimate. It may increase depending on the type of massage you get, how long, additional treatments, and more. |
How We Chose
1. Victorian Bali Spa
Address: Victoria Park Market Unit 38/210/218 Victoria Street West, CBD, Auckland 1010, New Zealand
Contact Details: +64 210 235 3859
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday – 9 AM to 9PM
Website: Victorian Bali Spa
If you’re on the hunt for an authentic Balinese massage or just some top-notch pampering, Victorian Bali Spa has you covered. We made sure to book our massages online before heading over to keep any scheduling mishaps at bay.
The spa itself is tucked away in the historic Victoria Park Market—a charming spot, for sure—but can put you in a bit of a pickle if it’s your first time visiting.
While we noted their weekly massage specials, we decided to go for their most raved-about treatments: the Traditional Balinese Massage and the Loli Signature Massage.
The Balinese massage was like a mini vacation for our muscles—a blissful blend of stretching, acupressure, and those long, soothing strokes. The therapist had this magic touch and just knew exactly how much pressure to apply to chase away all our tension and get that blood flowing right.
Then there was the Loli Signature Massage, crafted by Loli herself, one of the main massage therapists. Loli was all about finding and fixing those trouble spots, leaving no knot untangled.
Pros
- Blissful Balinese massage
- Relieving Loli signature massage
- Weekly massage specials
Cons
- Tricky location to get to

2. Aroma Massage
Address: Premier Buildings Level 3/2 Durham Street East, Auckland CBD, Auckland 1010, New Zealand
Contact Details: +64274289629
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday – 9:30 AM to 8 PM
Website: Aroma Massage
Aroma Massage is bang in the middle of Auckland’s CBD, which is super convenient. Just a heads-up, though: it can get busy, so you might want to book ahead to snag your preferred time or therapist.
Oh, and parking—it can be a bit of a mission in the CBD. Give yourself some extra time to hunt down a parking spot.
But when you step into aroma massage, it’s all about chill vibes. The therapists make it their mission to figure out exactly what you’re in the mood for, massage-wise.
We treated ourselves to their aromatherapy massage, opting for the lavender oil—no regrets. We’ve all been there—getting a massage that’s either so light you’re wondering if the therapist is even there or so intense you’re bracing for bruises.
Well, the therapists here have that sweet touch—they somehow hit that perfect pressure spot, making it a genuinely healing experience.
And if aromatherapy isn’t your jam, no sweat! They offer a whole lineup of treatments: deep tissue, hot stone, reflexology, and they even do facials.
Pros
- Healing aromatherapy massage
- Friendly massage therapists
- Variety of massages available
Cons
- Busy if you don’t book ahead
- Parking is a hassle

Amazing deep tissue massage
“I had a deep tissue massage and mini facial from Diana and it was AMAZING!! One of the best massages I have had in a long time. I was really stiff and soar from days of backpacking in Fiordland and Diana took such care with me. I feel like a new person.”

Great massage by experienced staff in a clean relaxing environment
“Been here twice from my trip out to Auckland, and if you are looking for a great massage by experienced staff in a nice clean relaxing environment this is it. Was served by Kenya (Thai Remedial Massage), and Diana (Deep Tissue Massage) and both ladies are great masseuse. After long walking trips around Auckland leaves ones muscle aching, no better place to deal with them then Aroma Massage. Would encourage booking in advance on the website to add, towards the end of the day the slots really get taken up.”

3. Sawasdee Thai Massage & Spa – Parnell
Address: 377 Parnell Road, Parnell, Auckland 1052, New Zealand
Contact Details: +64 27 898 2919
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday – 10 AM to 9 PM
Website: Sawasdee Thai Massage & Spa
For starters, the place smells amazing—lemongrass vibes—and with the soft music playing, we were instantly in relaxation mode.
We tried chatting with the lady at the front desk a bit before choosing our massages to get the lowdown on what each kind involves. Communication could be a tad clearer. (She wasn’t all that nice, tbh.)
When it came time for our massages, the changing rooms were a bit on the snug side, so just be ready to feel like sardines in a can.
But the massages though… Holy moly, they are no joke! Their deep oil Thai massage is perfect if you’ve got knots that feel like they’ve set up permanent residency in your muscles.
But for us the winner was the hot stone massage. There’s something about those warm stones and the way they ease muscle tightness that’s just a game changer—especially if you’ve got back pain.
If you don’t feel like a full body massage, Sawasdee has reflexology, which is pretty much a treat for your feet. And for anyone with one of those stress neck humps, their upper body massages are a lifesaver.
Pros
- Smells amazing inside
- Deep oil Thai massage perf for knots
- Game changing hot stone massage
- Variety of treatments
Cons
- Staff could be nicer
- Small changing rooms

Incredible massages
“My partner and I went to Sawasdee for a walk-in couples massage this weekend, and staff were able to see us almost immediately. They were so knowledgeable about our specific ailments and had stellar recommendations for which services would suit us best. The massages were incredible! Certainly one of the best treatments my partner and I have had. To top it all off, the interior is beautiful and relaxing, the oils they used smelled fresh and lovely, and the prices are very reasonable. We can’t wait to go back!

4. Green Leaves Body Care
Address: 144a Great South Road, Epsom, Auckland 1051, New Zealand
Contact Details: +64 9 218 8189
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday – 10 AM to 9 PM
We didn’t have a hard time getting to Green Leaves Body Care, but parking sure was a drag. So we’d suggest just parking on the streets to save time.
Once we arrived, we kicked things off with a super relaxing 15-minute foot soak. Honestly, who doesn’t love a bit of pampering for their feet and our therapist was incredible.
But the Chinese style massage we got was just out of this world—the perfect amount of pressure that made us feel all loose and totally stress-free. We really loved how the therapist kept checking in to make sure we were comfy and enjoying the massage to the fullest.
However, the rooms could do with a bit more soundproofing. We could hear the people in the other rooms talking, and even the lady at the front desk on the phone.
Pros
- Relaxing foot soak
- Stress-free Chinese style massage
- Communicative massage therapists
Cons
- Parking is a drag
- Rooms aren’t soundproofed

7. Ikoi Spa
Address: 1 Huron Street, Takapuna, Auckland 0622, New Zealand
Contact Details: +6494891818
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday – 10 AM to 8 PM
Website: Ikoi Spa
Tucked away on Huron Street, this place has got a seriously cool Japanese vibe that makes you forget all about the outside noise as soon as you step in.
We went all in for the Shiatsu massage. Our masseuse was on point, digging into those stubborn knots and stiff muscles. We walked out feeling like we’d been given a new lease on life, especially around the shoulder area, which is always a nightmare for us.
And we also gave reflexology a go. That’s all about getting your feet worked over, hitting spots that are supposed to be linked to other parts of your body. Got to say, it was a bit of a mixed bag ‘cause some points were kind of sensitive, but overall we thought it was worth it.
However, the price tag is a bit up there—definitely more of a treat-yourself moment than a regular thing. And the spot where you hang out before and after treatments felt a bit on the snug side—it would’ve been nice to have a bit more room to lounge.
Pros
- Shiatsu massage was on point
- Reflexology available
Cons
- Expensive
- Snug lounge rooms
