Jordan McCraeA few months ago, my friend wanted to commission a custom engagement ring from a well-known jeweller in the city. He expected to end up with the ring of his fiancée’s dreams, but his experience was less than stellar.
He ended up with a ring that looked like it had come from a discount store—all that money he spent wasn’t going to be returned to him either.
Not wanting anyone else to end up like my friend, I recruited the rest of the Auckland Magazine team to check out the best jewellers in town.
After much research, these are the jewellers that are worthy of your trust (and your wallet).
How much does it cost to get jewellery from a jeweller in Auckland?
It costs at least 100 NZD to get basic jewellery from a jeweller in Auckland.
This price is just an estimate, and the final cost will vary depending on the type, the quality of materials used, and the jeweller’s reputation.
1. Glitter Collection Jewellers

Glitter Collection Jewellers is definitely a place you want to check out if you’re looking for Indian jewellery. From everyday rings and necklaces to extravagant showstoppers, there’s something for everyone.
During our visit to their shop, we saw firsthand how the Glitter team has a knack for appealing to different tastes and budgets. What really stands out, though, is their commitment to quality.
They sell high-quality materials like sterling silver, stainless steel, and titanium. Plus, many of their pieces are adorned with beautiful gemstones.
It’s refreshing to see a jeweller that doesn’t skimp on materials while keeping prices reasonable.
Additionally, other customers we interviewed love their custom jewellery designs. This allows them to bring their own ideas to life.
What’s more, they offer jewellery repair and alteration services. It’s great if you’ve got a beloved piece that needs a little TLC.
They also do free cleaning and polishing.
However, Glitter Collection doesn’t have a website. So, you’ll have to make a trip to the shop to see what they’ve got in their collection.

Walker & Hall has been crafting beautiful pieces for well over a century. Their virtual consultations are a big win for those of us who prefer shopping from the couch—exactly what we did.
Right from the start, their reps told us about their Diamond Club. It comes with plenty of perks—reward points, exclusive promotions, and even free birthday gifts!
As we checked out their offerings, their team explained that they only use natural diamonds that are conflict-free. This means the diamonds are ethically sourced and not mined in poverty-stricken or war regions.
Additionally, their skilled jewellers provide services ranging from jewellery trade-ins to engravings and repairs.
We couldn’t help but admire their 1899 White Gold, known for its superior durability and hypoallergenic properties. Several customers shared that they never had to worry about skin irritation, and their rings still look brand new.
However, a few customers did tell us that the in-person customer service can be a tad pushy at times, which can be a turn-off.

In terms of style, Guthries nails balance between timeless elegance and modern flair. All the designs we saw were both classic and cutting-edge, which customers absolutely love.
It’s clear that they have a knack for keeping things fresh while respecting tradition.
Moreover, others who went with their bespoke jewellery (in-store and online) mentioned how helpful it was to see their piece from all angles before committing.
Several brides-to-be were blown away by the 3D design art they created of their rings and the massive attention to detail.
Additionally, many also raved about the lifetime warranty that comes with free inspections and polishing.
However, some mentioned that booking in-person appointments with them can be a bit tricky. It seems they’re usually scheduled up to a few weeks at a time.

Several customers raved about their stunning wedding and engagement rings. They appreciated the fact that they could choose between the Signature Collection and the bespoke service.
Those who decided to go the bespoke route mentioned how the team guided them through the whole process. The staff helped them stay within their budget while still achieving that dream design.

During this session, they weren’t just trying to sell; they genuinely ensured we understood our choices and informed us about their ring return services.
This is important because Naveya & Sloane has a no-return policy, which can be a bit of a bummer. We suggest being sure about your choice before you buy.
The team also took the time to educate us on their diamonds and precious metals. Notably, the white gold rings we saw featured rhodium plating. It gave them a beautiful, bright finish.
