Finding the best kids’ gymnastics in Auckland can feel surprisingly overwhelming. With so many options, choosing the right one can feel like a daunting task.

So,  I’ve done the homework for you!

These five clubs welcome children at every stage: toddlers testing balance, school-aged kids building strength, and teens pushing into competition.

I’ve visited or spoken with parents from each location to give you the real story on what makes them special.

How much does kids’ gymnastics cost in Auckland?

Most parents can expect to invest between $100 and $350 per term for their child’s gymnastics classes. Programs for toddlers and preschoolers are the most affordable, usually costing between $100 and $140. For older children in beginner to intermediate classes, the fees typically increase to about $180 to $220 per term or more. Unsurprisingly, costs rise for specialized training like parkour and competitive programs. When planning your budget, don’t forget to account for additional expenses like annual registration fees and necessary equipment.

1. Tri Star Gymnastics

Website: http://www.tristar.org.nz/
Address: 55 Arundel Street, Mount Roskill, Auckland 1041
Contact: 09 625 4354 / [email protected]
Hours: Mon-Fri 9:30 AM – 6:30 PM, Sat 8:30 AM – 3 PM, Sun 8 AM – 6 PM

What sets Tri Star apart is the range of programs: Gymtots for babies, structured pathways for school-aged kids, and even adult classes.

My neighbour’s daughter started here at 18 months and is now competing at the regional level three years later.

By offering a Diverse-ability Gymnastics program, the club provides training opportunities for children of all abilities—an inclusive option not found at every gym.

The club has deep roots, shaping gymnasts since the 1950s through the merger of three established clubs. The facilities genuinely impressed me during our visit.

Plus, the Auckland Regional Gymsports Centre feels professional yet welcoming, with modern equipment that puts safety first.

However, popularity comes with drawbacks. Getting into their most sought-after time slots requires patience, and some programs have waitlists.

The coaching team has guided many athletes from early classes through to national competitions, which helps explain why their programs are in such high demand.

Pros

  • Extensive program variety for all ages
  • Olympic-level coaching heritage
  • Modern, well-equipped facilities
  • Strong focus on athlete wellbeing
  • Inclusive programs for all abilities

Cons

  • High demand leading to potential waitlists
  • Limited availability for popular time slots
  • Premium pricing for specialised programs

Customer Reviews:

“Super impressed with our experience so far: the club is responsive via email and telephone, the coach was hands on and gave individual attention, and the new receptionist Wendy is an absolute delight”
– Suhaila Ameer | Google Review

“A unique stand out building on the edge of a park reserve with pools and a playground next door, this is the gymnasium that creates Olympians. Great coaching staff and a wide range of equipment. Plenty of parking.”

2. Pulman Recreation Centre

Address: 90 Walters Road, Takanini, Auckland 2112
Contact: 09 295 0020 / [email protected]
Hours: Mon-Sun 8 AM – 5 PM

For families in South Auckland, this centre opens up access to high-standard facilities close to home. Sitting within the massive 64-hectare Bruce Pulman Park, it’s designed as a large-scale multi-sport destination.

Programs are priced with accessibility in mind, with efforts to ensure cost isn’t a barrier for families.

The gymnastics facility itself houses Counties Manukau Gymnastics and regularly hosts national competitions.

My friend’s son trains here for trampoline, and she raves about how the coaches balance fun with serious skill development.

The programme list spans preschool movement classes and structured competitive pathways.

The downside? Booking can be tricky during major events. When they’re hosting regional or international competitions, regular classes sometimes get shuffled around.

Still, being part of such a prestigious venue has its perks: children train in the same space where champions compete.

Pros

  • World-class facilities and equipment
  • Community-focused and inclusive pricing
  • Hosts national and international events
  • Comprehensive age-appropriate programs
  • Strong connection to competitive pathways

Cons

  • Booking difficulties during major events
  • Limited casual access during competitions
  • Distance from central Auckland areas
  • The facility can feel overwhelming for shy children

Customer Reviews:

“My daughter has a Gymnastics class here most Saturday’s. The staff are always friendly and polite. The facilities are great for why we attend and meet our needs. If you’re going as a spectator take a jacket or something warm to wrap up in as you never know if it will be hot or cold in there.”

“A really nice, multi-use gymnasium – two large arenas with a viewing platform between. Houses gymnastics and trampoline National and international competitions and training.”

3. Flow – Academy Of Motion (Albany)

Website: https://www.flowacademy.co.nz/
Address: 4/59 Corinthian Drive, Albany, Auckland 0632
Contact: 09 533 9006 / [email protected]
Hours: Mon 2 PM – 9 PM, Tue 12:30 PM – 9:30 PM, Wed 3 PM – 8:30 PM, Thu 10 AM – 7:30 PM, Fri 10 AM – 9:30 PM, Sat 7:30 AM – 2 PM, Sun 9 AM – 2 PM

Flow takes a completely different approach to traditional gymnastics with their focus on parkour, free-running, and modern movement disciplines. Their unique “Bandit” grading system lets kids progress at their own pace through thousands of different skills.

A colleague’s teenage son absolutely loves their ninja warrior setup. He says it feels like training in an action movie.

The facilities are purpose-built for high-energy activities with New Zealand’s longest sprung floors and a full foam pit.

What really impressed me was their free trial policy. There’s no pressure. Families can simply come and see if it fits.

The instructors bring incredible energy and expertise from around the world, creating an atmosphere that feels more like an adventure playground than a strict training facility.

The main limitation is their specialised focus. If you’re looking for traditional artistic gymnastics leading to competitions, this isn’t your spot.

For kids drawn to adventure and less rigid routines, Flow gives them the chance to move and explore in a way that feels more like play than practice.

Their birthday parties are particularly popular, and the kids genuinely seem to have a blast.

Pros

  • Unique modern movement disciplines
  • Innovative “Bandit” skill progression system
  • Purpose-built facilities with specialised equipment
  • Free trial classes available
  • Active community involvement in the parkour scene

Cons

  • Limited traditional gymnastics options
  • Niche focus may not suit all interests
  • Fewer competitive pathway opportunities

Customer Reviews:

“My kids love this place. We went along for a free trial and signed up the same day. Receptionist is lovely and helpful too. My children did the holiday programme for two days as well – they really enjoyed learning the new skills and I like that they are incredibly active!”
– Louise Maxwell | Google Review

“This place is great, highly professional and committed coaches, relaxed environment and good music in the gym playing on the background. Very different place from those boring and very strict gymnastic gyms. My son loves it! And birthday party was a great success, all 12 kids enjoyed it a lot. Thank you guys :)”

4. Mount Albert Community and Leisure Centre

Website: https://www.clmnz.co.nz/mount-albert-community-and-leisure-centre/
Address: 773 New North Road, Mount Albert, Auckland 1025
Contact: 09 846 0788 / [email protected]
Hours: Mon-Thu 6 AM – 9 PM, Fri 6 AM – 8 PM, Sat-Sun 8 AM – 5 PM

The centre’s programs are structured by age, ensuring toddlers aren’t mixed with teenagers, and each class targets specific developmental needs.

A family friend mentioned how much her shy 4-year-old blossomed in their gentle introduction classes.

Their youth fitness membership for teenagers aged 12-17 is particularly smart, bridging the gap between kids’ classes and adult fitness.

The centre also fosters a community feel by offering more than just gymnastics. Families can also book ‘Kidding Around Yoga’ sessions or arrange birthday party packages.

Plus, it sits in a lovely park setting with playgrounds nearby, making it easy to extend your visit into family time.

The main drawback is their $49 joining fee on top of class costs. While their programs are reasonably priced, that upfront cost can sting when you’re just testing the waters.

Also, their gymnastics program isn’t as specialised as dedicated gymnastic clubs, so competitive athletes might outgrow them quickly. The equipment is solid but not cutting-edge like you’d find at elite facilities.

Pros

  • Age-appropriate structured programs
  • Strong community atmosphere
  • Convenient park location with playground
  • Diverse activity options beyond gymnastics
  • Reasonable term pricing
  • Holiday programs and childcare are available

Cons

  • $49 joining fee requirement
  • Less specialised than dedicated gymnastics clubs
  • Limited competitive training options
  • Equipment is less advanced than specialised facilities

Customer Reviews:

“We held my daughter’s birthday party here and the team at the Centre were so incredibly helpful and made the process so easy and communicative. The hiring fee is so reasonable and included use of table and chairs. I would highly recommend holding your events here!”
– Laura Lee | Google Review

“Gym is well equipped with pretty everything you could need. Majority of the equipment is modern, and everything is clean. Gets busy in the mornings and late afternoons, quiet around midday and late evening. People are friendly and welcoming.”

5. NHG Gymnastics at Eventfinda Stadium

nhg-gymnastics-at-eventfinda-stadium

Website: https://nhgym.co.nz/
Address: 17 Silverfield, Wairau Valley, Auckland 0627
Contact: 09 443 2570 / [email protected]
Hours: Mon-Fri 9 AM – 5:30 PM, Sat 9 AM – 1 PM, Sun 9 AM – 4 PM

As one of New Zealand’s largest gymnastics clubs, NHG covers a wide range of disciplines, including artistic, rhythmic, trampoline, tumbling, and parkour.

An acquaintance whose daughter trains here mentioned how seamlessly they transitioned from recreational classes to competitive training when her child showed natural talent.

Their scale makes it possible to offer specialised programs that smaller clubs aren’t able to run. The Kindy Programmes for toddlers are particularly well-designed, focusing on fundamental movement skills that benefit all future sports participation.

With three Auckland locations, convenience is rarely an issue for North Shore families.

The size can be overwhelming, though. Popular classes fill quickly, and you might find yourself on waitlists for preferred time slots.

Some parents feel the club can be impersonal compared to smaller, more intimate facilities. However, they have a record of producing gymnasts who reach national competitions and have even rebuilt stronger after major flooding.

Pros

  • Largest club in Oceania with extensive resources
  • Complete range of gymnastics disciplines
  • Multiple Auckland locations for convenience
  • Strong pathways from recreational to elite levels
  • Inclusive programs for diverse needs

Cons

  • High demand is creating waitlists for popular classes
  • Can feel impersonal due to large size
  • A competitive atmosphere may intimidate beginners
  • Premium pricing for specialised programs

Customer Reviews:

– Sandra Hanson | Google Review
