I stopped by for dinner one evening and was blown away by the Braised Lamb Shank. It was incredibly tender and flavourful.
The owner, Eco, even stopped by the table for a chat, which made the experience feel personal and welcoming.
While its popularity means it can get quite busy, especially on a sunny weekend, the stunning view of Rangitoto Island from your table is well worth a potential short wait.

For a fun and nostalgic dining experience, Bald Eagle Diner is the place to be. It transports you straight back to the 1950s with its retro décor, jukebox tunes, and a menu filled with classic American comfort food.
The menu features American classics like hearty burgers and Philly cheesesteaks alongside indulgent milkshakes, that’s a feast for both the eyes and the stomach.
The vibe just feels so immersive and fun. I went with friends and we couldn’t resist trying their “freakshakes! They surely were as delicious as they were impressive.
I also ordered their Hawaiian Burger, and it was juicy, flavourful, and everything you’d want from a diner burger.
Its unique theme makes it very popular, so you might face a bit of a wait for a table, but the lively atmosphere and tasty food make it a worthwhile experience.

Tucked away just a short distance from the main beach, it offers a peaceful and welcoming environment with both indoor and sunny outdoor seating.
It’s even dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend along.
The café serves excellent Allpress coffee and freshly baked goods that are simply irresistible.
I had their scones on my last visit, and it was comforting and absolutely delicious. Quite the ideal brunch dish.
The service is always friendly, and the prices are very reasonable, which explains why it’s so beloved by locals.
The only downside is that it closes in the early afternoon, so it’s definitely more of a morning or lunchtime spot. Nevertheless, it’s a fantastic choice for a casual, high-quality café experience.

It’s a fantastic spot for grabbing a quick, satisfying bite, especially if you’re a fan of traditional New Zealand bakery fare.
Their selection includes pies, sandwiches, and a tempting array of sweet treats, all made fresh in-house. That’s why this place is my go-to when I’m craving a good old-fashioned pie.
I recently tried their Potato Top Pie, and it did not disappoint! I especially loved the rich gravy and a fluffy potato topping!
The main thing to remember is that it’s more of a classic bakery than a spacious sit-down café, so seating can be limited during busy times.
Still, for a reliable and affordable lunch, its long-standing presence and delicious goods make it a worthy stop.
