This collection is unlike any other in the city. Each item seems to have its own unique story, making the browsing experience a genuine adventure.
During my last visit, I was amazed by the sheer variety spread across their two sites. It’s a real Aladdin’s cave where militaria sits beside quirky curios.
Their selection of retro homewares adds a pop of colour to any room.
While their massive and ever-changing stock is a huge plus, the online shopping experience can be a bit limited. Some of the best finds require you to visit or call them directly, but for an in-person treasure hunt, this place is hard to beat.

Really liked the place. Spread over 2 sites, real Aladdin’s cave with something for everyone here and prices to suit all pockets. Also liked the signs pointing out that some of the items relate to specific times and society notes and ask people to understand that rather than be offended, great stance to take. Will be going back again.

Inside, you’ll find tribal art and militaria sharing space with rare books and vintage clothing, with a special focus on Pacific and Melanesian artifacts.
The layout is surprisingly organised, with different sections dedicated to specific themes, making it easier to navigate the treasure trove. The staff are incredibly friendly and full of stories about the items.
However, the sheer volume of stock can be a bit overwhelming if you’re in a hurry or looking for something specific. It’s the kind of place you need to set aside a whole afternoon to explore properly.

Vitrine offers a beautifully curated slice of Europe right in the heart of Auckland, specialising in antiques and mid-century pieces sourced directly from France and beyond.
Their large showroom is an aesthetic delight, filled with restored and unrestored furniture and decorative items that exude timeless elegance.
What I like most is their constant refresh of their “Latest Arrivals” section means there’s always something new to discover. They provide a great mix of options, catering to those who love the patina of an unrestored original as well as those looking for a piece that’s ready to go.
A friend of mine who couldn’t visit in person was thrilled they could arrange a video call to view a specific light fixture.
One downside is that you can’t simply click and buy everything online, as many pieces require an in-person viewing or an appointment, but their personalised service more than makes up for it.
