When she asked for advice, I suggested waxing instead. She was hesitant, but after some convincing (and a promise to help her find the right place, she agreed to give it a shot. That’s when we started digging into the waxing salons in Auckland.
If you’re also after a smooth, hassle-free result, here are the top spots we found for the best waxing in Auckland.
Hoes waxing cost?
Waxing costs start at $55 to $80, depending on the area and service. Some salons have packages that cover multiple areas, like underarms and Brazilian wax, for only $65. The wider the waxing area is, the higher the price is.

Bonita Brazilian is led by Juliane, a seasoned waxing professional with 15 years of experience. Originally from Brazil, she’s now bringing her expertise to New Zealand with two conveniently located branches in Newmarket and Ponsonby.
And while it’s not directly related to waxing, one thing that caught our attention was their pet-friendly vibe. They actually have an adorable Japanese Spitz (named Zion) at the front desk, which somehow attracts customers, especially dog lovers.
Going back to their services. We’re stoked that both their branches have a wide range of waxing services and cater to both men and women. This is good news because some salons can be picky about their clients.
They have buttocks, a back, and a Brazilian wax. A client who’s been with them for 2 years praised one technician, Natalia, for giving her a perfect Brazilian wax every time while being welcoming and informative.
We also love that they have service packages. For instance, Brazilian wax plus half legs (45 minutes) costs $90. Meanwhile, their full-body wax (90 minutes) costs $195. For what they provide, we think the pricing is fair.
However, a client shared that a staff member assigned to him was quite insensitive, saying she downplayed the pain he experienced. We wished that they could be more empathetic to clients.

Rubywaxx is a long-standing salon in Ponsoby. It was founded in 1997 and gained awards, which speaks of their quality service.
We really love that they offer waxing to men and women with prices starting at $50 (their cheapest). We asked about their full-body Brazilian waxing, and it costs $215 for women and $230 for men, which we find a bit expensive.
However, we’re satisfied with their full range of services. They can actually be your one-stop shop for grooming, like facials, eyebrows, and microneedling.
Another thing we like is that they also sell products like serum, hydration sheets, and moisturisers.
The technicians and therapists are impressive too. A customer for 4 years shared that her technician, Ruby, gave her an exceptional waxing experience. She highlighted that Ruby is sensitive and made the process as painless as possible.
This is also what other clients love about them. Most of their therapists are quick and efficient without compromising quality. They also give professional and helpful advice regarding skin care products, which we also appreciate.
Downsides? Some noted that the room is uncomfortable and hot. There is also no option for longer appointment times, which is unfavourable if you want hard wax.

The Waxing Room might just be a newcomer in the industry, but their list of services is impressive. They offer male and female waxing, and we like that they have plenty of service packages to choose from.
For instance, they have Brazilian underarms and half legs for $85, their cheapest package. The most expensive is at $135 (Brazilian, vajacial, and full legs). Their full-body service starts at $220 for 3 hours, which we found cheap compared to others.
Clients seem to love the atmosphere too. Many complimented the welcoming ambience, clean rooms, and friendly staff. One said that she came all the way from South Auckland, and it’s worth it to meet lovely and sweet aestheticians.
What we really appreciate, though, is how well they seem to put first-time clients at ease. Waxing can be intimidating, but several newbies we talked to said their sessions were unexpectedly comfortable and not as painful as they had imagined.
That said, The Waxing Room’s appointment management could definitely be improved. A client reported that her appointment was cancelled by the salon due to overbooking. They should’ve at least informed her of the cancellation early on.

Nakyd Body Wax Studio is a one-woman boutique salon in West Auckland run by Danielle. She has six years of experience in doing female and male waxing, and her personal approach seems to be a big hit with clients.
Many of her loyal customers rave about how smooth and comfortable the experience was, from start to finish. One also said that Danielle flawlessly did an ingrown and blackhead extraction in her armpits.
Apart from good service, we noticed that the space is also spotless. Despite its small space, you’ll feel comfortable with warm room aesthetics. For us, a clean treatment room is important for clients to feel at ease.
Unlike other salons, Naked Body Wax Studio only focuses on waxing. There are no additional services like facial or vajacial, which might not be ideal for those who are looking for a one-stop beauty salon.
But on another note, we think that having one service will give the aesthetician more time to focus on each client. We personally like this setup.
Just note that since Danielle has no other staff, she might not always be available to take on clients.

Bare Waxing & Skin Centre was founded in 2007 with a goal of providing affordable and professional waxing.
We can say that their services are really affordable, with a full body wax (3 hours) at $199. They also have maintenance packages priced at $140 and $165.
Aside from their waxing, they also have additional beauty services such as skin treatments, brows and lashes, and tanning. This is perfect for those who need one or more services and don’t want to find another salon to do it.
But what sets apart about Bare Waxing apart is their strong team in their Glen Innes branch. They have more than five therapists apart from their salon managers. For us, this is good news because more therapists mean more availability.
Also, you can easily book online and choose the branch you want. Note that they have three branches – Albany, Grey Lynn, and Glen Innes.
However, a client sadly shared that the team has poor communication. She said that the team confirmed her booking via phone but wasn’t able to find it at the time she arrived.
