The 5 Best Nutritionists in Auckland to Revamp Your Health

nutritionists-in-auckland
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Reviews: We sifted through local health forums and gathered live feedback from people. We chose nutritionists with consistently high ratings and positive testimonials.
  • Credentials: We verified their qualifications by combing through professional health websites and LinkedIn profiles.
  • We made sure they have relevant degrees, certifications, or are part of reputable organisations like the Dietitians Association of New Zealand.
  • Specialisations: We identified nutritionists who worked in different areas like sports nutrition, weight management, or dietary restrictions. We made sure we had a diverse selection that could cater to various needs.
  • Consultations: We did several initial consultations to gauge their approach and communication style. Our hands-on experience helped us assess how well they connect with people and tailor their advice.

A while back, I got tired of all the rollercoaster fad diets and conflicting advice I was seeing on social media. That’s why I sought guidance from a nutritionist.

Unfortunately, I ended up dealing with a frustrating series of appointments filled with cookie-cutter meal plans and a dismissive attitude that left me feeling more lost than ever.

That disheartening experience is what led me to seek help from the rest of the Auckland magazine team to prevent others from ending up like I did.

We did our research and interviewed a variety of nutritionists and their clients to see who’d be the best partner for reaching any nutritional needs. Here’s who made it to our list!

How much does it cost to see a nutritionist in Auckland?

It costs at least 150 NZD to see a nutritionist in Auckland.

The final cost will depend on the nutritionist you choose, the services, and the type of consultation.

Address: 81 Clyde Road, Browns Bay

Contact details: +64 21 126 4274

Operating hours:

  • Monday – 9:30 AM to 12 PM
  • Wednesday & Friday – 9:30 AM to 3 PM

Website

We listened in on one of Natalie Brady’s workplace wellness seminars, and wow, did we gain a lot of insight! We learned a simple 3-step morning routine and some helpful supplements.

What really caught our attention though was her personal story: she’s battled a slew of health issues like eczema, asthma, and PCOS. That kind of firsthand experience and her diploma in holistic nutrition back up her patients’ claims.

Several people raved about how she empowers them to take control of their health. Her approach allows clients to focus on everything from weight loss to gut health.

Many shared they not only lost weight but also saw significant improvements in their energy levels.

She’s known for her self-paced, 8-week online comprehensive health reset course. People who completed it told us the modules were straightforward and easy to follow.

For those who opt for her one-on-one consultations, she helps you craft a customised health plan complete with recipes.

Speaking of recipes, she’s got plenty of free ones on her website. We whipped up her spirulina cacao smoothie, and it kept us from crashing at noon.

That said, some people wished they had more support after the initial consultations.

Pros

  • Relatable work wellness seminars
  • Prioritises gut health
  • Easy 8-week online health reset course
  • Customised health plans with recipes
  • Free recipes on the website

Cons

  • Could offer more support after initial consultations

tessa-bollard

Address: 126A Remuera Road, Remuera

Contact details: +64 20 4100 5578

Website

Tessa is a New Zealand Registered Dietitian (NZRD) known for her straightforward and evidence-based advice. She specialises in paediatrics, medical ketogenic diets, and sports nutrition.

A few parents shared how Tessa transformed their approach to their children’s nutrition. Several mentioned that she made their child’s dietary needs feel manageable.

Instead of overwhelming them with too much information, Tessa provided practical tips that fit easily into their daily routine.

On the sports nutrition front, many athletes told us that their performance improved after following her tailored nutrition plans. It’s clear that she knows her stuff when it comes to fueling bodies for peak performance.

Plus, she’s approachable—we asked her many questions and we never felt intimidated.

However, there is one little hiccup: Tessa doesn’t have a functioning website (at least, it didn’t work for us). So, if you want to get in touch, you’re better off picking up the phone and calling her.

Pros

  • Evidence-based advice
  • Broad expertise
  • Practical tips that fit into daily routines
  • Approachable personality

Cons

  • Website not working

Explained everything I needed to know

“I saw Tessa because I wanted to make sure my two year old son is getting all the nutrients he needs. I cannot recommend Tessa more. She explained everything I needed to know about my sons diet, answered all my questions (which in the end weren’t related only to my son), she also made sure I am getting all the nutrients I need as I am still breastfeeding…I am really very grateful to Tessa for her expertise, patience, friendliness, help, advice and I strongly recommend her to anyone worried about their diet because she is the right person to talk to.”

Gave us the practical advice we needed

“We went to see Tessa because we were looking for science-based information on what to eat on a regular basis to stay well into middle age. My partner is a vegan so we were keen to find ways to make sure she’s getting enough of the nutrients she could be missing out on. Tessa was great, she set my mind at ease about a few things I was worried about (but needn’t have been) and gave us the practical advice we needed. Thanks to Tessa we’re now much more confident about the dietary choices we’re making. Five stars!”

People rave about how she takes the time to really listen to their concerns and crafts personalised plans that fit their lifestyles. Many told us it’s way easier to make healthier choices after their sessions with her.

We totally got this vibe after sitting in on one of her corporate wellness presentations. She made it engaging and interactive, inspiring everyone to rethink their eating habits.

Her passion for healthy living really shone through, and it was refreshing to see how she connects with people.

On top of that, we cooked up some of the free recipes on her website (all dairy-free and gluten-free). Our favourite was the Beetroot and Chocolate Brownies—healthy and indulgent!

That said, she only works with clients aged 16 and older. It can be a bit of a downside for families looking for guidance for younger kids.

  • Easy-to-follow personalised plans
  • Engaging corporate wellness presentations
  • Free, tasty recipes on her website

Helpful and easy to understand

“After about 6 months of absolutely erratic bowel behaviour, catching a bad tummy bug and trying to find solutions doing all sorts of diets, I didn’t know what else I could do. My GP guessed that “maybe you have IBS”, and at at that point in time I had been gluten free for almost 6 years. This is when I found Amanda. I have had a fantastic experience with Amanda. The personalized approach she took is truly unparalleled – she ordered microbiome testing to get a detailed understanding of my gut health and provided tailored advice based on the test results.

I was also really impressed with the way Amanda was explaining the whole process and results. She was incredibly helpful and easy to understand, breaking down complex information into bite-sized pieces. ”

Compassionate and non-judgmental approach

“I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible transformation I’ve experienced thanks to Kim, my nutritionist and food freedom coach. After years of restrictive eating, bingeing, purging, and struggling with terrible self-esteem and body image issues, I felt utterly lost. Kim’s compassionate and non-judgmental approach made me feel safe and understood in a way I had never experienced before. Her guidance has not only transformed my relationship with food but has also profoundly impacted my mental health and physical well-being. Kim helped me rediscover the person I had lost to years of unhealthy habits and negative self-talk. She taught me how to eat mindfully and enjoy food as both nourishment and a source of joy. Through her support, I’ve learned to view my body with love and respect, appreciating all it has done for me instead of punishing it.”

I now approach eating with a lot more confidence

“Kimberley has transformed my approach to nutrition and well-being. Initially drawn by her great online reviews, I quickly understood why she’s so highly recommended. Instead of just focusing on weight loss, Kimberley helped me understand my relationship with food, leading to a more balanced lifestyle overall. Under her guidance, I shifted from chasing quick fixes to prioritising nutritious, satisfying meals. I’ve shed some weight, but the real change is in the mental freedom I’ve gained. No longer consumed by guilt or obsessive thoughts about food, I now approach eating with a lot more confidence and feel so much better overall. Breaking lifelong habits isn’t easy, but Kimberley’s knowledge and empathy has helped me feel empowered to build sustainable habits that work for me. I highly recommend Kimberley to anyone seeking sustainable, transformative change in their approach to nutrition and well-being. Thanks so much Kimberley!”
