I started a hectic traffic, so I immediately called a company to tow my car. Turns out, it’s not that easy to find one. I managed to contact a towing team, but I wasn’t entirely satisfied with the service I received. A bit slow for their high price, I could say.
So I learned the hard way and started searching for the best towing services in Auckland for future use (not going back with that company).
After much searching, here are the most reliable companies offering fast and well-priced towing service.
How much does towing service cost?
Towing service costs from $80 to $200, depending on the distance. Some companies have different pricing based on the type of car and the time of day. If you also need additional services like repairs or jumpstarting, expect additional fees.
1. Quick Towing Auckland

Quick Towing Auckland is a company with a wide range of services, starting from towing, roadside assistance, and jump-starting.
They tow bikes, low cars, and even light trucks. This is good news for me, so I don’t have to call another company if either my bike or my car needs to be towed somewhere else.
Their 7 years of experience are highly admirable too, and the fact that they service North Shore, South, and West Auckland is also another plus.
In fact, a customer from Whitford praised the team for arriving as fast as 30 minutes. That’s an impressively prompt service, if you ask me.
It’s even more reassuring to know that the company is also responsive and fast, even on weekends. One client said Ali, one of the tower, quickly answered the phone and drove 2 hours to Te Arai on a Sunday afternoon to get his car towed.
Although they have only five towers, all of them are quite experienced and have received loads of praise from former clients.
Rates? We think they’re pretty reasonable given that they use modern fleets and lightning-fast service.

AZ Towing is a Onehunga-based company with 30 years of experience. Aside from their basic towing service, I appreciate that they offer disposal of abandoned vehicles and salvage towing, which is particularly helpful in more serious situations like accidents.
They also cater to other concerns, such as vehicle unlocking and emergency vehicle repairs. This is beneficial because most tow companies don’t offer such services, meaning you would need to find another repair service.
Most of their previous customers are satisfied with their quick service too. One said that they have good time management and have professional and respectful towers. Another said that they were able to pick up his Ford Ranger in 20 minutes.
Their emergency service is also reliable. A customer claimed that despite the rainy weather with thunderstorms, the team quickly towed her car at 10 PM.
One also said that the company efficiently brought his car from the city to rural South Auckland, despite the 33km distance. The service was completed in just 12 hours too.
The only downside is that their repair service is a bit expensive. For instance, a customer said that he’s been charged $80 for a small dent on his car.

24/7 Auckland Towing is a company serving a big part of Auckland, from Central and the West right through the North Shore.
They don’t offer as many services as some other companies, but I actually see that as a plus. Since they keep things simple and focused, they can help more customers wherever they are.
For example, they towed a work vehicle from Bombay to West Auckland. They also had towing from Pokeno to Mangere. From rural to urban areas, they have it covered.
Although they’re very clear that they don’t have repair services, I like their proactiveness. A client shared that Khalid’s team helped him replace his stuck gear stick at 11 PM at a very reasonable price.
Most of their previous customers also noted that the team is very responsive. A client whose car is stuck in the airport said that he called lots of companies, but received no response. When he tried calling 24/7 Auckland Towing, they immediately answered.
For such emergencies, I like that level of attentiveness, and 24/7 Auckland Towing got me on that criterion.

Avon Towing & Salvage provides a wide range of services. From roadside assistance and heavy haulage to vehicle locksmiths, they’ve got it. I also personally like their recovery services, which are helpful for fuel problems and breakdowns.
In fact, a client shared that the team helped him jumpstart his car battery. He didn’t even call, and the team only found him on the roadside and helped without asking for payment. For me, that’s a different level of initiative and kindness.
The lady phone staff is also very polite and informative. When asked for a quote, she’ll provide a quick quotation so you can make a decision right there and then.
The dispatch team is also prompt, with clients saying they receive help within 20 minutes after calling. They also live up to their 24/7 service, as many clients praised the team for assisting even on busy weekends.
However, there are also some previous complaints regarding some staff. A car owner noted that his tools were stolen. Also, a customer claimed that his brand-new Mazda batteries were replaced with old batteries.
The issues occurred during the past management and before the business was sold to the new owners. The company said that those staff no longer work there. They also clarified that there are no theft complaints against the current management.

Reasonably priced

5. Coast Towing and Recovery

Coast Towing and Recovery is a 2024 boomer in the towing industry. Although relatively new, it’s surprising to know that they’ve a broad list of services. From basic towing to salvage recovery and vehicle storage, they’ve got it.
They also offer a range of services, including wrong fuel assistance and plant and machinery transportation, which are particularly suited for contractors and farmers. In fact, they once transported a 1965 boat tractor from New Plymouth to North Auckland.
Heads up, though, because they only serve the North Shore and the Rodney Districts. So, if your car breaks down somewhere else, this company might not be able to help you.
One thing I like is that the owner, Mike, is hands-on with his business. He doesn’t just assign and dispatch work but also gets the job done himself. A client said that Mike helped him transport his car chassis at 5:30 PM on Saturday.
Another client also said that Mike has no delays with the service when he called about his 1989 Nissan Laurel breaking down. He also noted that the pricing is reasonable, given the quick response he got.
The only thing to worry about is that they have a very limited workforce, which affects the availability.
