When Aucklanders talk about flavour, Sandringham almost always comes up.
Known to many as Auckland’s “Spice Alley,” this neighbourhood is a goldmine for incredible food, especially authentic Indian, Sri Lankan, and Middle Eastern eats.
It’s a true culinary melting pot.
But with so many amazing spots packed into one area, how do you find the best restaurants in Sandringham?
Locals on a food mission and visitors eager to taste the area’s best can both use this guide. We’ve narrowed it down to the must-try places.
How much does dining cost in Sandringham, Auckland?
Dining in Sandringham is pretty accessible, but costs can vary. If you’re grabbing a casual lunch, you’ll likely spend around $20 to $40. For a mid-range dinner main, budget between $30 and $40. A nice breakfast out might set you back $25 to $35.Of course, if you’re pushing the boat out for a higher-end dinner, mains can climb from $40 to over $100 per person. The great thing about Sandringham’s diverse scene, though, is the sheer number of fantastic, budget-friendly options available.
1. Mandi House

Website: https://www.mandihouse.co.nz/
Address: 573 Sandringham Road, Sandringham, Auckland 1025
Contact: 09 845 1144
Schedule: Mon – Thu, 5 PM – 11 PM; Fri – Sun, 5 PM – 11:55 PM
Must-Try: Chicken Mandi
Mandi House is all about authentic Yemeni-style mandi. Their dishes offer a full-on experience, built on tender, spiced meat and incredibly aromatic rice.
You can even smell the spices from down the street. Most of the well-loved dishes here focus on tender, spiced meat and incredibly aromatic rice.
While they offer other things like kebabs and biryanis, you’re really here for their Mandis. It’s a specialty that makes them a true standout in Auckland’s food scene.
We tried the Chicken Mandi on a recommendation, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The portions are massive, often shared among friends or family.
The atmosphere is casual and inviting, lending itself to a relaxed meal. But just a heads-up, their hours are a bit limited, mostly just for dinner.
It’s also not a spot for a late-night craving past 11 PM, so plan accordingly.

Delicious mandi and great service. The rice was aromatic and the portion size was perfect. Even staff were friendly & helpful. If you’re looking for authentic Middle Eastern flavors. Do give this place a try.☺️

Must-Try: Grilled Lamb Chops
507 Bar and Eatery brings a stylish, all-day vibe to Sandringham. It is a popular all-day spot, drawing people in for brunch or after-work drinks.
Their menu places European classics alongside dishes with Middle Eastern twists.
The interior is modern and welcoming, and they’ve clearly thought about different diets, with plenty of vegan and gluten-free options marked.
I was impressed by their event menu, which accommodates group bookings of 20 or more.
One of my favourites was the Grilled Lamb Chops. The flavour was fantastic and the meat was cooked beautifully.
Vibe-wise, it’s a great local gem, but it’s not a huge space.
If you’re planning to go during peak times, especially with a group, you should definitely book ahead to avoid missing out. It’s worth the extra step to secure a table.

Beautiful place. Delicious foods. We had the Eggs Benedict and poached eggs on toast with a cheeky wine and beer. Service was awesome. Can’t wait to come back for lunch and dinner one day!

3. Paradise Restaurant

Contact: 09 845 1144
Schedule: Mon – Fri, 5 PM – 9:30 PM; Sat – Sun, 11:30 AM – 2 PM & 5 PM – 9:30 PM
Must-Try: Indian Butter Chicken
If you’re craving truly authentic Indian food, Paradise is a Sandringham institution. They specialise in rich, aromatic Mughlai and Hyderabadi dishes that go way beyond your standard fare.
Being Halal-certified, they are a go-to for many in the community, and the restaurant is almost always buzzing.
The menu is huge, with over 100 items, but the Indian Butter Chicken is legendary for a reason.
I’ve been a few times, and the flavours are consistently bold and the portions generous. They also have dedicated takeaway and buffet options, which are super convenient.
This place is no secret, though. It gets incredibly busy, especially on weekends. Be prepared for a wait, but it’s a testament to how good the food is.
Don’t be discouraged by the line, though. It moves faster than you’d think!

4. Eggs and More

Website: https://eggsandmore.co.nz/
Address: 572 Sandringham Road, Sandringham, Auckland 1025
Contact: 09 845 5500 / [email protected]
Schedule: Mon – Tue, 5 PM – 10 PM; Wed – Thu, 12 PM – 10 PM; Fri, 12 PM – 10:30 PM; Sat – Sun, 11:30 AM – 10:30 PM
Must-Try: Pani Puri
Eggs and More is such a unique concept. They’ve built an entire menu around authentic Indian-style egg dishes, and it’s brilliant.
This is the place to go when you want to try something completely different, like a Surti Ghotalo or an egg-based tikka masala.
The menu also includes strong vegetarian options, so it’s a good spot for a mixed crowd. I was especially impressed with their Pani Puri.
It tasted exactly like the ones I’ve had at street stalls in India. The flavours were spot on. The casual, fun atmosphere suits both dine-in and a quick takeaway.
Be aware, though, that the menu is very specific. Diners looking for a standard chicken korma might find the menu challenging, but adventurous eaters will likely appreciate the options.
Nevertheless, for egg lovers, the menu can be extensive and appealing.

5. Blue Rose Cafe & Catering

Website: https://www.bluerosecatering.co.nz/
Address: 414 Sandringham Road, Sandringham, Auckland 1025
Contact: 09 846 1579
Schedule: Mon – Fri, 7 AM – 3 PM; Sat – Sun, 8 AM – 4 PM
Must-Try: Palusami Pie
Blue Rose is a true Sandringham treasure, offering dishes that beautifully combine Pacific and Māori flavours.
It’s a boutique café that operates with manaakitanga (hospitality) at its core, and you feel that warmth the moment you walk in.
Their incredible fusion pies are a major draw. I had the Palusami Pie, and it was pure comfort, wrapped in perfect pastry.
This place is a true celebration of heritage, using premium ingredients and family recipes, not just a standard cafe.
Their unique menu is their biggest strength, but it might not appeal to everyone if you’re just after a standard eggs-on-toast breakfast.
It’s a café, so hours are limited to daytime, closing at 3 PM on weekdays and 4 PM on weekends. Make sure to get in early for the best pie selections!

Best place to eat ! especially if you’ve been away from home for so long and need your Maori/Islander food fix ! Not a good place if you’re trying to diet; I’ll start next week. Ordered the Island plate, Hangi pie and Kalo pie. 10/10 ! Service was mean, Kai was mean, Sounds and atmosphere was mean !

Awesome place to just chill and enjoy the food. I went there with my family from Aussie. Kids had Nutella on toast, older kids had Eggs Benedict, us adults had a selection of the pies that were available, hangi & curry chicken and other dishes. Unfortunately they didn’t have any palusami or paua pies available at the time 😔 The food portions were big! So worth your money! Amazing place!
