The 5 Best Podiatrists in Auckland for Pain-Free Feet

podiatrists-in-auckland
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Qualifications: We ensured the podiatrists held reputable credentials, such as a Bachelor of Podiatry or a Master's degree.
  • Patient Testimonials: We spoke with patients and reviewed testimonials from various health forums to gauge each podiatrist’s reputation. We also focused on key factors like professionalism and communication skills.
  • Services: We evaluated the variety of services offered like ankle assessments and treatments for common conditions like plantar fasciitis and ingrown toenails. We also looked for expertise in orthotic prescriptions and preventative care.
  • Accessibility: We considered the podiatrists' location and accessibility. We checked their proximity to public transport and how easy it was to secure an appointment.

We all take our feet for granted until they start to hurt. And when they do, it can be a real pain. Unfortunately, visiting a podiatrist can sometimes feel just as frustrating.

The last one I saw barely glanced at my aching arches before declaring I needed custom orthotics. He didn’t ask about my lifestyle, activity level, or pain history. Instead, he handed me a pre-made pair of orthotics and told me to pay.

Unsurprisingly, they didn’t work. Worse, they didn’t even address the real source of my pain.

Determined to find better solutions, I teamed up with the rest of the Auckland Magazine crew. Together, we set out to discover experts who truly diagnose and treat food problems.

Here are the professionals who go beyond quick fixes to provide real solutions,

How much does it cost to see a podiatrist in Auckland?

It costs at least 50 NZD to see a podiatrist in Auckland.

This is just an estimate. The actual price will vary depending on the appointment type, treatment, and the podiatrist’s experience.

Whether you’re dealing with heel pain or those pesky ingrown toenails, Perform Podiatry can help you.

We loved that they make custom orthotics—they’re comfy and made with great materials.

They are also awesome at helping athletes bounce back from injuries. Many people have reported good results with their combination of physical therapy and injections.

We also appreciate that they teach some really easy exercises to strengthen the arches of those with flat feet.

Their ingrown toenail surgery is also highly praised. People who were nervous about the procedure felt reassured by the podiatrists, and they said recovery was a breeze.

Moreover, we think they’re on top of their game with their skin and nail solutions. For fungal nail infections, they use PACT LED fungal nail therapy—which uses special lights to zap the infection.

Others said their heel pain went away after trying shockwave therapy, which uses sound waves to stimulate healing after injury.

Now, a few patients did mention the receptionist could be a little rough around the edges, but most people found them helpful and friendly.

Pros

  • Excellent custom orthotics
  • Surgery to remove ingrown toenails
  • LED fungal nail therapy zaps infections away
  • Shockwave therapy rids heel pain

Cons

  • Receptionist can be a bit rude

Foot Mechanics is on our radar for their thorough approach to foot care. They take a complete medical history and exams before recommending a treatment plan, ensuring you get the right care for your specific condition.

What also stood out to us was their focus on conservative treatments like orthotics and exercises before moving to more invasive options.

For example, patients with plantar fasciitis might be given calf stretches and toe curls. Meanwhile, those with bunions may be advised on exercises to strengthen foot muscles.

Their manual therapy is also impressive. This approach focuses on soft tissue mobilisation and joint manipulation, which helps reduce pain and improve mobility.

Their follow-up care is another plus. We like how the podiatrists monitor their patients’ progress after surgery and are readily available to answer questions and address concerns.

However, while the podiatrists are highly responsive, some patients mentioned the wait times for appointments can be a little long.

Pros

  • Personalised treatment plans.
  • Focus on conservative treatments first
  • Highly regarded manual therapy
  • Excellent follow-up care

Cons

  • Long wait time during appointments

Foot Sense Podiatry has a reputation for helping patients with a wide range of foot and lower limb problems. The staff is generally friendly and helpful, although a few patients mentioned the receptionist can be a bit abrupt at times.

Despite this minor drawback, we were impressed by how they help people who struggle with shin splints. The podiatrists give them easy-to-do exercises and orthodontics, which has helped many athletes recover from injuries.

We also were thrilled with the proactive approach they take when treating stubborn fungal nail infections. Many patients love having access to a quick and efficient solution.

Foot Sense Podiatry also has a good track record for handling ingrown toenails. A few people reported getting quick relief, with the podiatrist helping them prevent future problems.

Additionally, patients dealing with recurring corns and calluses have found comfort in Foot Sense’s ability to remove them quickly and painlessly.

Pros

  • Excellent care for common foot conditions

Clear Step helps people get back on their feet and feel their best.

We like how they utilise cold laser therapy to get rid of these frustrating fungal nail infections. This low-level laser therapy stimulates healing and reduces inflammation. As a result, the pain many patients have felt in their feet lessens immediately.

That said, not every patient had the results they were hoping for. Some reported that the infection came back after a few months, which suggests that the treatment may not work for everyone or could require ongoing care.

On the bright side, Clear Step has an impressive track record of helping athletes recover quickly from stress fractures. Several athletes swear they were back in training in no time!

For patients dealing with gait issues, the custom orthotics provided by the podiatrists have been a game-changer. These tailored devices help correct posture and alleviate discomfort, with many patients reporting significant improvements after using them.

Pros

  • Great for athletes with stress fractures
  • Custom orthotics for gait problems
  • Good for general podiatry needs

Cons

  • Efficiency of cold laser therapy varies

Operating Hours: By Appointment Only

What really stood out to us about FootWise Podiatry Clinic was their genuine care for their patients. Their compassionate approach is evident in how they lend a listening ear to their patients.

Many appreciate that feeling of being understood and not rushed through their appointments.

We were also impressed with how thorough these podiatrists are in uncovering the root of each issue. They go beyond the basics, gathering a complete medical history and crafting personalised treatment plans designed to effectively relieve pain.

These personalised treatment plans could include custom orthotics, exercises, and even stretches.

The patients we talked to were also pleased with the custom orthotics they received. They effectively addressed their arch support issues and reduced their foot pain.

That said, a couple of people did have to get their orthotics adjusted. Plus, the orthotics are not always covered by insurance, so they could really bump up the cost.

Pros

  • Compassionate approach
  • Personalised treatment plans
  • Podiatrists are very thorough

Cons

  • A few instances of ill-fitting orthotics
  • Orthotics aren’t always covered by insurance
