William Sanders Retirement Village offers state-of-the-art home care, hospital care, and specialist dementia care.
We were particularly impressed by their specialized dementia support. It includes personalized care plans and a variety of stimulating activities to keep the mind engaged.
The nurses at William Sanders are exceptional. Their kindness, patience, and dedication to providing gentle care are truly remarkable. Families love that the nurses ensure their loved ones feel comfortable, safe, and supported.
We value the opportunities provided to residents to socialize, pursue their interests, and maintain their well-being.
We also love their spacious assisted living apartments. Each is equipped with packages that make life easier. It includes housekeeping and a chef-prepared meal every day.
Additionally, we admire the fabulous coastal views and access to onsite amenities like the beauty salon, library, and more.
However, this level of care does come at a higher cost. This might be a consideration for families looking for more budget-friendly options.

We love how The Good Companion’s in-home elderly care helps seniors maintain their independence for as long as possible. What stands out most is their focus on social interaction and emotional support.
Many families even shared how helpful their companions are in assisting with appointments and outings. We appreciate that they assist with daily tasks such as showering, dressing, and medication reminders.
We also find it valuable that their staff excels in providing additional assistance. This includes grocery shopping, meal preparation, and even bill paying.
Aside from that, their respite care service and 24-hour live-in care option are noteworthy. These services can be a lifeline for families needing round-the-clock support for their loved ones.
Their post-hospitalisation support services also impressed us. Their nurses help make transitions easier by managing medication and liaising with healthcare professionals.
Similarly, we value their palliative care service. It provides compassionate support for individuals with terminal illnesses. This is a much-needed resource for families navigating end-of-life care.
However, communication can sometimes be inconsistent. A few families told us that updates on their loved ones’ well-being and progress were occasionally delayed.

Ambridge Rose impressed us with their holistic approach to aged care. We love that they consider every aspect of well-being.
From nutrition consultations with a dietician to regular visits from a hairdresser and podiatrist, their holistic care is truly remarkable.
We also appreciate that they have access to a private hospital onsite, which is a significant advantage. This is especially beneficial for families seeking specialist dementia care.
Their 100 rest home units, offering stunning views of the Tamaki Estuary, are a true delight. Residents can enjoy serene surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere.
Aside from that, we found it notable how the staff assists with a range of conditions. This includes diabetes, long-term medical care, and stroke rehabilitation.
However, they are sometimes understaffed. This could lead to longer wait times for assistance.

Graceful Care’s 24/7 in-home care services stood out to us. We love that they help people stay comfortable and independent in their own homes.
Whether it’s helping with daily tasks or providing companionship, the carers we met were kind and genuine.
Their dementia care facility is even more impressive. The 1920s character villa has charm. It’s clear they’ve put a lot of thought into making it feel like a home.
We also love the courtyard garden, the lounge rooms, and the beautiful details throughout that really contribute to a warm and inviting space.
Besides that, their meal preparation service is top-notch—it’s one less thing to worry about. Having two skilled chefs on-site is convenient. Residents are guaranteed delicious, home-cooked meals three times a day.
But there’s a drawback. Some families have noted that the services are more expensive than those at other facilities.

Truly dedicated caregivers
“Shoal Bay Villa was chosen by me for my husband after considerable research, having had my mother in a dementia care unit some years ago. I then brought him in for daycare to get the real feel of the place – it certainly had a good vibe. When my husband did join the other residents permanently I was able to come in at any time and I never saw any mistreatment. The staff are truly dedicated ‘care’givers and every one of them looks like they are enjoying themselves but still ensuring that each resident is treated with dignity. Not only is there quality care, there are activities to suit each one, with games, creative work at the table, musical dance afternoons, van trips around Auckland and always innovative happenings to do with the many calendar dates. And what a home in which to have one’s birthday! Families are welcome anytime. The outdoor environment is equally welcoming with gardens, trees and a gazebo. Although the place is fully fenced it doesn’t feel locked in at all – just like one’s own home.I’m so glad that Shoal Bay Villa was chosen for my husband – it was 100% the right choice!”

Plus, we value how all their carers are compassionate, attentive, and highly skilled.
We appreciate that they handle a variety of needs. This includes assisting with personal hygiene tasks like showering, preparing meals, and helping with errands.
One aspect we truly appreciate is their free in-home consultation. We like their personalized approach and tailored care plans.
However, a few people have complained that they had to request additional support for more complex medical needs.
