Craving the vibrant, soulful flavours of authentic Brazilian restaurants in Auckland?

The city is home to some incredible spots that serve up everything from sizzling, all-you-can-eat churrasco to modern twists on classic dishes.

This guide helps those missing a taste of home find familiar comforts, leads food hunters to their next favourite meal, and points friends toward a fun, festive dining experience.

We’ve rounded up the top spots for finding that perfect picanha, crispy coxinha, and a lively atmosphere to match.

Let’s dive in.

How much does it cost to dine in Brazilian restaurants?

Your budget for a Brazilian meal in Auckland can vary quite a bit, depending on the experience you’re after. For a casual lunch or a quick bite at a café, you can expect to spend around $20 to $35 per person.

If you’re planning a dinner at a contemporary bistro like Tempero, a main dish will likely be in the $35 to $50 range. For the full all-you-can-eat churrasco experience, where servers bring endless skewers of meat to your table, you’re typically looking at a set price of about $60 to $80 per person. This offers great value for a big celebration or if you’re feeling particularly hungry.

1. Tempero

tempero

Website: https://www.temperoakl.com/
Address: 352 Karangahape Road, Auckland Central, Auckland 1010
Contact: 09 218 2011
Hours: Tuesday – Thursday, 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM | Friday – Saturday, 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Must-Try: Picanha

Tempero stands out by giving traditional Latin dishes a modern, bistro-style makeover. They focus on fresh, seasonal produce, a commitment to quality that comes through in the taste of each dish.

The menu beautifully combines familiar flavours presented in new and exciting ways, all thanks to Chef Fabio’s creative vision. The casually elegant ambience lends itself well to a date night or a special celebration.

My husband and I went for his birthday, and the staff made the evening so memorable with their warm hospitality. The handmade gnocchi was a standout, and the picanha was cooked to perfection.

Because it’s a smaller, owner-operated spot, it can get quite busy, so I’d definitely recommend booking a table in advance, especially for weekends. The effort is well worth it for a meal that feels both high-end and incredibly personal.

Pros

  • Modern twist on traditional dishes
  • Focus on seasonal, local produce
  • Everything is made from scratch
  • Attentive service & warm ambience

Cons

  • Limited seating requires booking
  • Higher price point for some dishes

Customer Reviews

Had an amazing experience at Tempero last night. The staff were very attentive and welcoming. Despite the restaurant being full we were provided excellent service. Plus, the food was absolutely delicious! We especially loved the lamb tacos and picanha. It’s well worth the price and we will be back to dine again in the future so we can try the other dishes!

Delicious food and good drinks. Service was also great. The restaurant itself is pretty small/ narrow so would recommend booking in advance. Will definitely be back for more in the future.

Address: 1/32 Constellation Drive, Rosedale, Auckland 0632
Contact: 09 558 4532
Hours: Tuesday – Friday, 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM | Saturday, 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM | Sunday, 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Must-Try: Picanha ou Frango a cavalo

Kika’s Kitchen delivers authentic, no-fuss Brazilian churrasco. They are masters of the charcoal grill, serving up prized cuts of meat like the famous picanha with that wonderful, flavourful fat cap.

The taste is smoky, tender, and genuinely Brazilian. It delivers a true BBQ feast without the formality of a fine dining restaurant.

The relaxed and welcoming vibe is often filled with families sharing a meal or friends enjoying a casual get-together. I tried their picanha and pork belly, and the meat was incredibly tender, a clear sign of its quality.

While the focus is on amazing meat, the service is equally warm and attentive.

However, the seating includes shared tables, which might not be ideal for those seeking a more private dining experience.

Pros

  • Authentic charcoal-cooked churrasco
  • High-quality, prized cuts of meat
  • Delicious and healthy meal options
  • Warm, inviting service

Cons

  • Shared tables may lack privacy for some diners
  • Location is outside the city centre

Customer Reviews

Excellent bbq meat. Highly recommend the picanha. We got the pork belly and sausage too but they felt a little too much towards the end (they made for great fried rice the following day though).

Definitely get the beef and flan dessert and Brazilian snacks.

Very warm and attentive service. Parking is free but remember to validate at the reception.

Loved the food here, everything was super tasty and great proportions of meat, which is very rare to find in a restaurant these days. The staff were really friendly and made the whole experience great. Definitely recommend!

Address: 368 Queen Street, Auckland Central, Auckland 1010

Must-Try:  Feijoada

If you’re looking for authentic Brazilian food in the city, Tropeiro Grill is a fantastic find.

The restaurant builds its identity around the historical “Tropeiros,” and that sense of tradition and history really comes through in the flavour of their food.

But what really stands out for me is the value you get when dining here. The portions are very generous, so you will not leave hungry.

It’s the kind of satisfying, hearty meal you crave once in a while.

It’s located within the Queens Court food court, so the setting is casual and bustling rather than that of a formal restaurant. This makes it a great spot for a quick and flavourful meal, though it might not be ideal for those seeking a quiet, sit-down dining atmosphere.

Overall, it’s a great place for anyone with a big appetite craving a true taste of Brazilian BBQ.

Pros

  • Generous portions
  • Friendly service
  • Emphasis on fresh ingredients
  • Great value for big appetites

Cons

  • Food court setting might not be ideal for everyone

Customer Reviews

Just wanted a fuss free dinner after driving back into Auckland and this “food court” came out on Google maps and decided to give it a try. Ample choices, originally wanted to try the donburi but after standing there for 3 min without any service from the solo guy running the shop we moved to the Brazilian place. To our surprise it is very good and heart with a HUGE portion.

I am very impressed by how authentic and delicious the food was, and it is very well priced, will definitely return to try other items on the menu.

Website: https://www.braziliancafe.co.nz/
Address: Albany Tennis Park 321 Oteha Valley Road, Albany, Auckland 0632
Contact: 021 292 0352
Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM | Saturday, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Must-Try: Coxinha

Tucked away in Albany, the Brazilian Café & Bistro is a local favourite that offers an authentic slice of Brazilian café culture.

The café’s award-winning coxinha (a delicious chicken croquette) is a highlight, and it lives up to its reputation.

The café aims to create a feeling of saudade, that nostalgic longing for home, and it really succeeds in creating a warm, welcoming space for everyone.

It’s a spot owned by two friends who share a love for traditional Brazilian dishes, and that personal touch shines through in both the food and the service.

I stopped by on a Saturday, and the live music created such a wonderful, vibrant atmosphere. The café provides a wonderful setting for a relaxed brunch or lunch.

The only downside is its location—being in Albany, it’s a bit of a journey for anyone who isn’t based on the North Shore, but the authentic experience rewards the journey.

Pros

  • Award-winning, authentic coxinha
  • Warm, family-owned atmosphere
  • Caters to various dietary needs
  • Serves specialty coffee and açaí

Cons

  • Location is in Albany, which might require some travel if you’re from the City Centre
  • Limited operating hours (no dinner)

Customer Reviews

What a hidden gem in Albany! Absolutely loved our visit – everything from the warm vibes, live Saturday music to delicious authentic Brazilian foods! Highly recommend this cafe and we can’t wait to come again:)

– Mina I Google Review

Friendly staff, get ready to be served well – no nasty looks or attitude when you ask for some accommodation or change – it feels like the entire team LIKES and are proud to work there, it’s hard to explain. You got to experience it. The food is divine, great prices, hearty and nourishing- a typical Brazilian experience. I totally recommend it!

Address: 15 Clearwater Cove, West Harbour, Auckland 0678
Contact: 09 353 7595
Hours: Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM I Friday – Saturday, 5:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Must-Try: Churrasco

Wildfire delivers the full Brazilian Churrasco experience that makes it a lively setting for celebrations.

I went for a special group dinner and found the whole event engaging. Waiters, called passadores, move around the restaurant with large skewers, carving different cuts of perfectly cooked meat directly onto your plate.

The lamb was a standout, arriving incredibly tender and packed with flavour. Plus, the chef’s selection of salads was a perfect complement to the feast.

For long-time fans who might be looking for the old spot, heads up: Wildfire has moved.

The new location just opened in September 2025, and they’ve done a fantastic job of capturing the same energetic spirit of their original home.

Just be aware of the move, as it might confuse those not in the know!

Pros

  • Premium all-you-can-eat churrasco
  • Continuous table-side service
  • Huge variety of meats and seafood
  • Extensive wine and cocktail list

Cons

  • Churrasco format isn’t for everyone
  • Old patrons may not be aware of the new location

Customer Reviews

Had a fantastic dinner at Wildfire! The service was top-notch — friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The chicken and lamb were absolutely beautiful, perfectly cooked and packed with flavour. I definitely overindulged, but it was worth every bite. Can’t wait to come back!
