A few summers ago, I stayed at an apartment out of town. The host raved about their brand new, eco-friendly fibreglass swimming pool.
As someone who appreciates a well-built pool—especially after a long day on the trails—I was excited to check it out. And it didn’t disappoint. The deep end was perfect for a plunge, the water sparkling clean, and the whole setup felt built to last.
That experience left me wanting one of my own. But if I were to invest in a pool, I wanted to make sure I found a builder who could deliver the same quality and peace of mind.
So the Auckland Magazine team and I decided to dive in (pun intended) and find out which pool builders in Auckland actually deliver pools we’ll be proud to show off. Here’s everything we found!
How much does it cost to build a pool in Auckland?
It costs at least 40,000 NZD to build a pool in Auckland. However, this is just an estimate and the actual price will depend on the pool size, materials, type of pool and more.
1. Auckland Inground Pools

Address: 12/9 Markedo Place, Papakura
Contact Details:+64 9 294 7572
Operating Hours: Monday to Thursday – 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Auckland Inground Pools won the Gold Award for Concrete Pool Builder of the Year (2022) and New Zealand’s Pool of the Year (2023) at the SPASA NZ awards. That’s why it’s no surprise that many recommended them during our search.
Their work covers a wide range, from custom lap pools and spa pools to large-scale commercial projects. Looking through their past projects, we found the pools beautifully designed and built to last.
On top of that, they’re versatile. They don’t just build new pools; they also do renovations and repairs. This is very beneficial for clients since it means you have a single, reliable team to call on even years down the track if anything needs attention.
One thing that comes up often in feedback is the team’s professional, creative approach. Clients said they’re able to bring unique ideas to life, whether that’s a sleek modern lap pool or a natural rock pool that blends into the landscape.
We also like that Auckland Inground Pools offers a 12-month warranty on their work, along with $10 million general liability insurance policy. These give you peace of mind if something goes wrong during or after the project.
The only thing to keep in mind is that payments are due within 7 days, so it’s worth being prepared for that part of the process.
Passionate, knowledgeable and caring people

2. Narellan Pools West Auckland

Contact Details: +64 508 476 657
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday – 8 AM to 5 PM
Narellan has a strong reputation, with over 150 industry awards for its well-designed, technologically advanced fibreglass pools. They’re a standout choice for anyone who wants low-maintenance, long-lasting fibreglass pool with plenty of modern features.
Their shells are built to last, and the gel coat finish protects against algae, bacteria, and UV damage. That means you’ll spend less time maintaining the pool and more time actually enjoying it.
One design we liked was the Astoria—a sleek, rectangular pool that combines a built-in spa, splash deck, and swim-up benches. The splash deck is great for young kids and for relaxing on sunny days, while the spa seats up to six adults.
Narellan also offers a wide range of accessories and upgrades, including automation systems and self-cleaning technology. We particularly like their heating options (solar, heat pump, or gas) as they come in clutch during the colder times of year.
We also like the variety of pool colours, from classic blue agate to sandy neutrals.
The only downside is that some people have found the sales team a bit pushy at times, which made them feel less comfortable when making their decision.
Our finished pool looks stunning
“We love our Narellan pool! Tori and the team have been great to deal with, super knowledgeable and easy to deal with. Our finished pool looks stunning. A great Kiwi company that I’d highly recommend!!”

Cannot express how happy we are with the finished outcome
“We recently had the pleasure of having a pool and spa installed by Richard and his team from Narellan Pools and we cannot express how happy we are with the finished outcome. From start to finish, they displayed professionalism, expertise, and service that exceeded our expectations. Richard maintained clear and timely communication throughout the project, insuring that we were informed and involved every step of the way. No problem was too big and any challenge we did face was solved in a timely manner. We are thrilled with the end result and would highly recommend their services.
Thanks Richard and team!

Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday – 9 AM to 5 PM
- Saturday – 9 AM to 4 PM
- Sunday – 10 AM to 3 PM
The PoolHouse NZ is worth considering if you’re after a stylish, low-maintenance fibreglass pool that feels like a private resort. Many have mentioned their pools still look new after years of use, which says a lot about their durability.
They specialise in fibreglass pools, with styles ranging from sleek rectangles to classic round shapes.
One series that really stood out to us is their Resort Series. These pools are designed for comfort, with spacious entry areas, a generous second step, and two built-in recliner seats.
The spa-like seating, wide ledge for easy access, and thoughtful extras like a spillway and cascade water feature make it feel like a true backyard oasis.
Another big plus is their patented Pool ColourGuard® surface protection. The colours—ranging from subtle silver mist to vibrant delta blue—are guaranteed for the pool’s lifetime.
We love how the colour finish is not only beautiful but also practical. It’s fade-resistant, easy to clean, repels algae and stains, and guards against blisters and cracks.
On the downside, their pool warranty isn’t transferable. This could be a limitation if you’re thinking about resale value.
Such amazing pools
“Such amazing pools. Great knowledge and excellent service. Highly recommended.”

Thank you!”

4. Euro Pools

Address: 1 Mirwill Road, Rothesay Bay
Contact Details: +64 22 366 4492
Operating Hours:
- Monday – 9 AM to 6 PM
- Tuesday to Saturday – 8 AM to 6 PM
Euro Pools stands out for their ability to deliver dramatic infinity edges, natural rock lagoons, and modern plunge pools that fit smaller spaces.
They take cues from the grandeur and craftsmanship of ancient Roman baths, which shows in the way they balance luxury with everyday functionality.
Their expertise really shines with infinity pools—all the ones we’ve seen are stunning, with careful attention to detail in the finishes and landscaping.
Another thing that sets Euro Pools apart is their full-service approach. Clients consistently mention how hands-on the team is, guiding them from the initial complimentary design consultation through the final landscaping and outdoor living touches.
We also like that they go beyond just building pools. They offer extra services, including leak detection, system testing, and remodels. That kind of broad service range can be a real plus if you want one company to handle everything.
Plus, Euro Pools backs their pools with a comprehensive structural warranty, giving you added peace of mind.
The only thing to keep in mind is that their focus on craftsmanship can mean longer build times. Some people had to wait for over three months, especially for complex pools, such as infinity edges or natural rock features.
Extremely professional and a pleasure to work with
“Venny and the team at Euro Pools built our pool, spa, water feature, outdoor fireplace and Millboard deck about 18 months ago. It was a large job and challenging given the clearance down the side of our existing house was quite narrow. I have overseen the construction of a number of homes before but this was the first time we did a pool and I would rate Venny and the team right up there for communication and quality of work. We ran into a few issues and he was able to overcome these challenges drawing on his engineering background to figure things out.
He also helped coordinate the other trades and kept the job site tidy. Once commissioned we did encounter a few equipment and user errors and Venny was readily available to help with these. Finally I want to say that Venny was extremely professional and a pleasure to work with, which is not always the case in this industry.
Thanks Venny!”

5. Frontier Pools

Address: 1/1 Jervois Road, Ponsonby
Contact Details: +64 9 295 0989
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday – 9 AM to 5 PM
Frontier Pools is ideal for anyone who wants a pool that’s unique, beautifully designed, and tailored to their space. We’ve seen pools where the water’s colour shifts with the light throughout the day and spa areas that feel like private retreats.
Frontier’s lighting options are impressive. They offer up to 10 fixed colours and 7 colour-changing shows, all easily controlled by a remote. Their advanced LED lighting systems, in particular, can completely transform the pool area at night.
The lights can highlight steps, bubblers, pool shelves, or water features. They add colour and interest to every part of the pool and spa area.
We also appreciate how Frontier makes sure every pool fits seamlessly into its surroundings. Many people have shared how the team works closely with them and their designer to get every detail right.
The only thing to consider is that all this customisation means lots of decisions. Some customers have found the many options a bit overwhelming, so if you’re after something quick and simple, the process might feel a bit drawn out.
Built us a great pool
“Damian and the team built us a great pool. They took care of the build and managed all the steps along the way. Would definitely use again. Great job all round.”
