If there’s one thing worse than spending your weekend on a business trip, it’s leaving your furry friend behind—especially when they give you that look that says, “Don’t go.”
It tugs at your heart every single time. But the good news is, there’s a way to make it a little easier.
Auckland’s full of amazing pet sitters who’ll keep your pets happy and cared for while you’re away. The only tricky part is choosing the right one.
Lucky for you, we’ve already done the digging. Our team checked out some of Auckland’s best pet sitters who can treat your pets like family (maybe even spoil them a little). Here are the best ones!
How much do pet sitters in Auckland charge for their services?
Pet sitters in Auckland usually charge around NZD $30–$50 for a single visit, while overnight or in-home care starts at about NZD $80 per night.
1. Fluffy Bums

Phone: +64 22 640 4491
Business hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 8:30 AM – 6:30 PM
Aline and Tony, the duo behind Fluffy Bums, have that warmth that can make your pets end up liking them more than you. With experience running the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Rarotanga, they clearly know their stuff.
We also loved how they don’t do just the basics. They make sure your pets feel loved, played with, and genuinely cared for.
You’ll get photo updates of your cat lounging like royalty or your dog wagging its tail.
When it comes to respecting your space, they score major points. We’ve heard a lot of people returning to their homes in a spotless manner.
Their wedding pet care service is also helpful. They handle it all—transport, timing, keeping your pup calm between photos—so you can focus on getting married instead of worrying about who’s holding the leash.
If we had to nitpick, we’d say their website could use a little more transparency when it comes to pricing.
You can always contact them for a quote, but it’d be nice to have at least a general idea upfront.
Highly recommend Fluffy Bums to anyone wanting loving care for their pets
“We had the best experience with Fluffy Bums Pet Care, who looked after our dog Chilli for just over a week while we were away in Bali. They treated her like part of the family – taking her for walks, rides in the car, trips to the beach, and giving her endless cuddles and, most importantly, belly scratches on demand (which she does)! We really appreciated the photo updates of her enjoying life in her own home, which gave us such peace of mind while we were away. On top of that, we came back to an immaculate house and, most importantly, a very happy dog. Highly recommend Fluffy Bums to anyone wanting loving, reliable care for their pets.”

She provides an amazing level of care
“Aline has been caring for our dog Hector for over three years now, and we’d be lost without her. She provides an amazing level of care and takes him on daily adventures, sometimes with other little dog friends. He is so excited to see her each day, and would probably choose to live with her if he had a say! In addition to walking him, she has also done some house/pet sitting for us, and left our home in an immaculate condition. Aline is incredibly caring and clearly dedicated to animals and enriching their lives. Thank you, Aline”

2. Pet Company At-Home Pet Sitting

Contact: [email protected]
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 8 AM – 5 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: Closed
Our team looked into Pet Company At-Home Pet Sitting, and they’re the kind of service made by true cat people for cat people.
Most of the customers we spoke with had their cats looked after by Angie. She seems to understand feline personalities from the shy and skittish to the ones who expect royal treatment.
The big highlight would be their online client portal. After each visit, Angie uploads a detailed update and a bunch of cute photos, so you can see what your pet’s been up to.
It’s pretty clear that cats are their speciality, but they’ve also cared for rabbits, guinea pigs, and even rats.
There’s the occasional dog mentioned in our interviews, but dog services don’t seem to be their main focus. We’d say they’re more ideal for pets who love to nap, treats, and gentle pats rather than long walks.
Price starts at $35 + GST per visit, which includes all the good stuff like food, playtime, brushing, and litter care.
You can add extras like a full litter box change or garden watering, though the add-ons can bump up the total a bit.
Our usually shy cats warmed up to Angie right away
“First time using Pet Company – and our usually shy cats warmed up to Angie right away! She gave us photos and written updates through their online client portal at every visit. This gave us great peace of mind while we were away. Thank you!”

She was so lovely to deal with, and clearly loves animals
“What a fantastic service! Angie looked after my fur baby for the 2 weeks I was away and kept me updated every step of the way. She was so lovely to deal with, and clearly loves animals – searching out all my cats’ hiding places to make them feel comfortable. Highly recommend.”

3. Sticks & Bones

Business hours:

- Tuesday to Friday: 7 AM – 3 PM
- Saturday to Sunday: Closed
Sticks & Bones is super reliable and organised, especially when it comes to dogs. They’re mostly known for their dog walking service, but they also offer in-home sitting for enrolled clients.
It’s perfect for dogs who prefer to stay in their own space instead of a kennel. We liked how clients described coming home to tidy houses and relaxed pets.
Their app makes booking a breeze. You can schedule, see who’s looking after your pup, and then get a full update afterward. It’s complete with photos, videos, and a mini report of what your dog got up to.
Safety is another big win. We loved how every team member is Pet First Aid certified, and their vehicles come equipped with bog dog and human First Aid kits.
They even have clear emergency procedures in place, which shows how seriously they take their job.
That said, their cancellation policy is strict. If you juggle an unpredictable schedule, those fees might sting a bit.
And while they have cared for cats on occasion, it’s clear that Sticks & Bones is a dog-first operation.
Amanda was amazing to work with
“Recently, we were fortunate enough to be able to book in pet sitting and dog walking services with ‘Sticks & Bones’ for our pets. I was really worried about leaving the dog; I actually didn’t think I could. After finding out all about his character and needs, Amanda matched us up with a lovely sitter. I appreciated having a ‘Meet and Greet’ in our home with both Amanda and the sitter prior to travel, so they were familiar with him, his home and routines. I felt confident that the dog and his pal, the cat, would be well cared for in our absence. Amanda was amazing to work with; extremely knowledgeable, kind and professional throughout…”

I can’t recommend these people enough to look after your furry friend
“Amanda and her team are fantastic. They have made welcoming a new puppy into our lives a lot less stressful. Our puppy loves the care and attention she gets, and she is always really happy when we see her after her visits from Sticks and Bones. I can’t recommend these people enough to look after your furry friend.”

4. BexPets

Phone: +64 22 526 7585
Business hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 7 AM – 7 PM
We quickly understood why Rebecca, the one in charge behind BexPets, has such a loyal following.
She’s been in the pet care game for over 15 years, with training in vet nursing, animal management, and welfare.
We also loved that she offers a free meet and greet before any bookings. It’s a smart touch because it lets her get to know your pets before you disappear for the weekend.
For anxious cats or clingy dogs, that bit of familiarity can make a big difference. It also gives pet parents a chance to feel out her vibe.
From the reviews we heard, that vibe is calm and friendly. Her clients can’t stop talking about how flexible and dependable she is too.
One family got stuck overseas and needed someone at the last minute. She swooped in, cared for their dog, and kept them updated the whole time.
Now, it’s worth noting that BexPets only caters to cats and dogs. So, if you have other pets, you’ll need to look elsewhere.
Highly recommend this service
“Great service. Contacted bex the last minute as we got stuck in China for 24 hours because of a missed connection flight and our current pet sitter had to take off, so Bex came through and looked after our dog. She called over multiple times to check in and take her for walks and kept in contact to make sure we got back to Auckland to doggo. Highly recommend this service.. Thanks again, Bex!”

She walks our two pups, and they are obsessed with her
“Bex is awesome! She walks our two pups, and they are obsessed with her. They look for her for ages every time she leaves (re photo 😂) – pretty sure they want to go with her!! They are pretty depressed on the days she doesn’t come! They get a great long walk and run at the park, they’re different dogs (very happy and content) on the days Bex walks them in the AM. I can highly recommend her to anyone looking for a responsible, reliable and lovely dog walker!”

5. Wags 2 Whiskers

Address: 70 Sale Street, Auckland Central
Phone: +64 800 028 888
Business hours:
- Monday to Sunday: 8 AM – 6:30 PM
The staff at Wags 2 Whiskers aren’t just people who like pets. They’re actual veterinary nurses, which instantly made us feel like your pets would be in very capable hands.
They’re confident dealing with medication or pets that need a bit of extra care. It’s a win if you have pets who are on pills or dogs in special diets. We also loved that they don’t charge extra for normal medicating—it’s part of what they do.
People trust them completely. Pet owners kept mentioning how relaxed they felt going away, even for longer trips.
Before anything happens, they schedule a free meet and greet to take notes on your pets’ feeding, quirks, health issues, and even favourite nap spots.
They also have a flexible setup. Their services cover pet feeding, dog walking, plant watering, and even a pet taxi.
For people who travel a lot, the “Quick Sit” service is useful. You can leave your key safely with them, and if a trip pops up, they can step in with as little as 12 hours’ notice.
However, they’re a little more expensive than the other sitters we’ve looked into. It might not be ideal if you’re just after a quick budget check-in.
Sarah from W2W is simply amazing
“Sarah from W2W is simply amazing!! She has been taking care of our cat Momo for the past 4 years now and it has always been a simple, hassle free process. She really cares for her animals, and we never need to worry about anything.”

Our two fur babes are always so well looked after
