As a family running a small business in the city, we (especially my mom) know how much a reliable internet connection means. Although small, our coffee shop needs to be online for taking orders, updating our socials, and contacting our suppliers.
However, finding the right provider isn’t as easy as one-two-three. We’ve had our share of random dropouts, laggy connections, and slow tech support. So, we did our homework.
After comparing, researching, and asking around, we’ve rounded up the best internet providers in Auckland. See which provider has a fast, steady, and affordable internet plan for your personal and business needs.
How much does an internet plan cost?
Internet plans start from $50 to $110 per month for a broadband plan. Price can be lower for household wireless plans starting at $50 to $60 per month. Additional expenses might include the purchase of a router.
1. Wireless Nation Ltd

Address: 2 Fred Thomas Drive, Takapuna
Operating Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Saturday – Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Wireless Nation Ltd has been a well-established internet service provider since 2005. What we like about this provider is that they cater to homes and businesses. They even cater to flexible lifestyles like caravans, boats, and motorhomes.
Their backstory of providing internet connection to farming families also caught our attention. They actually brought some of the early satellite communications to the market, which shows how competitive and confident they are.
They offer home wireless to urban and rural areas, which makes the internet more accessible to people. Pricing for urban homes is affordable, from $69 per month for 120GB of data to $129 for unlimited.
That said, their rural plan is a bit expensive.
It’s also a plus that they have offerings for businesses, such as Smart Line. It’s a phone system ideal for small retail businesses where you can put phone customers in an automatic queue.
Many of their users that we talked to said that Wireless Nation offers a brilliant service. One client said that when his connection suddenly slowed down, the team sent a new modem to try, complete with a prepaid package to return the old one.
Another said that the team is very easy to contact and that it’s $30 cheaper a month than their previous provider.
Great to deal with
“Wireless Nation have been great to deal with. When I needed to upgrade my internet, it wasn’t a problem and was done straight away, and any queries are answered straight away too. The coverage when we are away in our motorhome is amazing, wherever we have been so far, highly recommended”
-Mr. Wayne Cheeseman, Google Review
Prompt delivery and great connectivity
“So pleased we switched to Wireless Nation. We’re able to travel having full connectivity, giving us TV, Video calls, internet, etc.
With our previous provider, this would have cost a small fortune.
Prompt delivery, follow up and regular newsletters to keep us updated.
Highly recommend.”

2. NZ Compare

Address: E4/4 Pacific Rise, Mount Wellington
Contact Details: +64508226672
Operating Hours: Monday – Sunday: Open 24 Hours
NZ Compare is a company offering a wide range of services. From broadband to power plans and mobile plans, they have it ready for homeowners and businesses.
One thing we noticed about this company is that every month, they offer deals. For instance, you can get six months of free broadband at Mercury or $150 credit at Pulse Energy. Pretty good deal, isn’t it?
In fact, a client said that they were able to get a free router, four months at half price, and a deal that was 25% cheaper than their previous provider. Another said that he saved $22 on his broadband after getting the discount offered on the site.
Customer service? Customers claim that the staff are friendly. We also inquired via phone, and nothing was off, to be honest.
However, there are also customers who aren’t happy about the company’s site, especially when signing up. A couple of clients complained that signing up for degrees didn’t work and that there was a mix-up on prices, which can be confusing.
Great deals
“The best place to see the best deals. Just by using NZ Compare and changing providers charging $95/month to $59/month, it really was a no-brainer for us. With the cost of living biting, I went on the war path and decided to see where I could make savings. Having heard about NZ Compare, my eyes were opened when I found on their website such a huge difference in internet providers’ pricing, even though the delivery and service were identical, if not better than the big providers”
-Ms. Denise McGrath, Google Review
Awesome service
“Awesome amazing experience and loving everything about the broadband and the awesome service I received, how friendly, helpful everyone I talk to told whanau, friends and workmates about this provider”

3. ASHNET NZ

Address: Level 1/220 Queen Street, Auckland Central
Contact Details: +6492694000
Operating Hours: Monday – Saturday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
ASHNET NZ has been serving clients since 2001. They have broadband internet, a home wifi solution, and landline plans. For us, this is a great set of services, especially for businesses.
A client said that the home fibre 50 plan is cheap and reliable, perfect for watching 4K 60Hz YouTube. Another said that Ashnet has real fibre speed for the same price as other vendors.
We looked at their pricing to confirm this, and we can say it’s affordable. For residential fibre, it costs $58 to $98 per month. Mind you, all the plans have unlimited data. You just need to prepare for the router, which is $100.
We also like their business broadband plans, starting from $97 per month.
Surprisingly, they also have web hosting, which other companies don’t have. The Price starts at $5 per month, which is affordable and helpful for online businesses.
Customer support? The online chat function is ready to help within seconds. Turns out, they also offer tech support through remote desktop connection.
However, some customers complain about the length of time that it took for the team to put their wifi back.
Good service
“Signed up three months ago, and the service has been good so far. The customer service had a prompt reply to my query, and the billing portal has all the information I need. The actual internet has also been satisfactory with no issues. No direct debit, so I have set up automatic transfer each month.”
-Mr. Francis Radloff, Google Review
Excellent customer service
“Excellent customer service with a quick response! Great pricing, fast fibre speeds, and smooth communication. Highly recommend it to friends looking for reliable high-speed internet.”

4. Simply Broadband

Address: BUILDING E/4 Pacific Rise, Mount Wellington
Contact Details: +6492810356
Operating Hours:
- Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday – Sunday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Simply Broadband is a local internet service provider with some great, affordable plans. What caught us was their no-contract policy. This is good news for us as it’s easy to cut off the service in case it doesn’t fit our needs.
They have three plans to choose from, including $59.59, $79.79, and $99.99 per month. For us, these options are all affordable, given that they all come with unlimited data – no caps, no restrictions. Of course, they only differ in speed.
Speaking of speed, we’ve asked around about it, and most are pretty satisfied with the connection of Simply Broadband. Customers said that the connection is fast and stable compared to their previous provider.
Another said that at first, she was hesitant to try Simply Broadband because of its cheap plans, but she did not regret it. She also mentioned that the customer service is available 24/7 and they’re responsive via email.
The only negative side we heard is that their BYO (bring your own) modem can be tricky. Some said that they find it hard to connect their modem to the service, which annoys customers.
Good connection and professional installers
“I was super nervous about what sort of rural coverage I would have when moving to my rural property. However, 3 months in, I have to say the connection has been fantastic. Installation was easy – the installer was very professional and customer-centric. But the great surprise is how good our connection has been for 3 months with zero dropouts and great speed. I recommend the unlimited plan…works beautifully.”
-Mr. E M., Google Review
Reliable service
“Very happy with the way my Lightwire has been operating. Compares favourably with Fibre, which we were on before moving from town to country. Really good service to set up and get working.”

5. One NZ Albany

Address: Shop 215 Don McKinnon Drive, Albany
Contact Details: +64800800021
Operating Hours:
- Monday – Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Thursday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Sunday: 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM
One NZ Albany is a service provider of broadband, mobile, and business internet plans. Although we’re here for internet connectivity, we can’t deny that we’re amazed that One NZ has its own satellite, allowing you to text anywhere in New Zealand.
Knowing that they have that kind of tech, we can say that they also have a reliable service in terms of the internet. In fact, they offer plans for personal and business use, with different plans available.
For their business offerings, they have fibre and wireless broadband. Their wireless broadband is actually affordable, priced at $65 per month (unlimited data). Meanwhile, fibre plans start with the same rate up to $111 per month (still a good rate).
Previous clients are satisfied with how the team helped them pick the right plan for their household. One shared that Jason, one of the staff, provided great customer service as he’s a bit unfamiliar with the plans.
There are a few things to note about this company, though. First, there’s always a long queue because they don’t just offer broadband services but also sell and trade mobile phones. This can be annoying to those whose agenda is just to sign up for a plan.
Also, some of their staff aren’t that courteous. A couple of customers pointed out one staff member, Mohit, for being rude and biased about the language the client uses.
Impeccable customer service
“I visited the Albany branch in Auckland, and Jason helped me choose a decent plan to use. He was patient as I am new to the country. Impeccable customer service from him. Thank you, Jay.”
-Mr. Os Ku, Google Review
Excellent service
“Mischa is an awesome, very helpful guy. He offered excellent services with a great attitude even during the busy moment when I went to the Albany branch today on10/05/2025~ Saturday. I was very satisfied with his services and very appreciative of his great help. I have been there ~One NZ Albany mall several times and I was not very satisfied with their services. Mischa, well done, you did a great job .”
