We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Location and Accessibility: Convenience is key in South Auckland. We looked at how easy it is to get to the airport, major motorways, commercial areas, and local attractions like Rainbow's End or the Manukau shopping centre.

Value and Price: We assessed what you get for your money. This is about fair pricing for the comfort and service provided.

On-site Facilities and Amenities: We checked for the extras that make a stay better. This includes things like 24/7 reception, on-site restaurants, free Wi-Fi, parking options, and guest facilities like pools or gyms.

Real Guest Feedback: We dug into what actual travellers are saying. Consistent positive feedback about staff friendliness, cleanliness, reception, and overall experience weighed heavily in our choices

Welcome to South Auckland! You might be flying in for a quick business trip, starting a family adventure, or exploring the rich local culture.

Whatever the reason, finding the right place to stay is crucial.

This part of the city is huge. It offers a wide range of options, from luxury suites right by the airport to cosy, budget-friendly motels tucked away in quiet suburbs.

We know it can be tough to sort through the options.

That’s why we’ve put together this list of the best hotels in South Auckland, focusing on what really matters: convenience, comfort, location, and real value.

Let’s find your perfect home base.

How much do hotels cost in South Auckland?

Figuring out your budget for South Auckland hotels really depends on what you need.

If you’re looking for a simple, clean motel, you can find great spots for around $110 to $180 (NZD) per night.

For a more full-service experience near the airport or Manukau, mid-range hotels like Sudima or Heartland usually sit in the $180 to $270 range.

If you want that 5-star luxury or a spacious apartment-style suite, plan for $270 to $450+ per night. This is especially true during peak season or for premium rooms.

1. The Sebel Auckland Manukau

Address: 16 Lakewood Court, Manukau City Centre, Auckland

Contact: 09 261 1821 | [email protected]

Schedule: Check-in: 2:00 PM | Check-out: 11:00 AM

The Sebel makes a lot of difference if you hate feeling cramped in a standard hotel room. Its biggest plus is the spacious, apartment-style suites, which are ideal for families or longer business trips.

When I stayed, having the kitchenette was a lifesaver for sorting breakfast and snacks for the kids without having to eat out for every single meal.

It feels more like a temporary home, and its location right in Manukau centre means supermarkets, restaurants, and the motorway are all incredibly close.

The on-site restaurant is convenient, though I did find the dinner prices a bit steep for what it was.

Also, its event spaces are quite small, so it’s not the place for a large conference. But for a comfortable, spacious base in Manukau, it’s a top choice.

Pros

  • Apartment-style suites with kitchenettes
  • Ideal for families or extended stays
  • On-site restaurant and guest laundry
  • Rooms designed for reduced mobility
  • Central Manukau location

Cons

  • On-site dining can be pricey
  • Event facilities are for small groups only

I have been a ACCOR member for a while and I was truly blown away. Firstly I got upgraded to a deluxe room….which was unexpected. This beautifully appointed room has a kitchenette with beautiful appliances. The room was so beautiful and the bed was so comfy. They even arranged a complimentary happy Birthday cake and sparkling water on arrival. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. (Special shout out to Steph). The property itself is so conveniently situated close to all local attractions, supermarkets and motorways.

A last-minute booking lead me to needing accommodation near the airport and event centre. I booked the apartment and it was incredible, so much room and even had a balcony…although I didn’t use it. Lovely staff and would definitely stay again.

    2. Pullman Auckland Airport

    Website: https://www.pullmanaucklandairport.com/

Address: 37 Tom Pearce Drive, Auckland Airport, Auckland

    Contact: 09 256 7901 | [email protected]

    Schedule: Check-in: 2:00 PM | Check-out: 11:00 AM

You cannot beat the Pullman for airport convenience. It’s the only 5-star hotel that is literally a one-minute walk from the international terminal, which is a total blessing after a 14-hour flight.

This hotel moves beyond basic airport convenience, offering a full-on luxury experience.

The design is stunning and shows a deep connection to local Māori culture. You can see this in the architecture, which resembles a ‘korowai’ (cloak).

The rooftop restaurant, Te Kaahu, is a must-visit, offering incredible runway views and fantastic local food.

It’s definitely a premium price point, and you have to pay extra for the valet parking. It also lacks a pool, which might be a letdown for families.

But for a luxurious, stress-free layover or a high-end business trip, it’s one of the best options.

    Pros

    • 1-minute walk to the international terminal
    • True 5-star premium experience
    • Stunning rooftop restaurant with runway views
    • Unique design rooted in local Māori culture
    • “Day Use Rooms” available for layovers

    Cons

    • No swimming pool or spa facilities
    • Valet parking is an additional daily charge

We stayed here for one night after flying into Auckland in September. The hotel is easy to find and within walking distance of the terminal building. Check-in was very smooth and super friendly. The hotel looks new and is very modern. Our room had everything we needed and had clearly been very well thought out. I would definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed at the Pullman Auckland Airport for a lengthy international flight layover. It’s only a 5 minute walk from the international section of the airport. The staff were friendly, welcoming and the check in process was simple and smooth. The room was clean, modern, spacious and the beds were really comfy! We ordered room service and the food was fantastic. Very satisfied with our stay here

    3. Yates Park Motel

    Website: https://www.yatesparkmotel.co.nz/

Address: 77 Yates Road, Māngere East, Auckland

    Contact: 027 888 5885 | [email protected]

    Schedule: Check-in: 3:00 PM | Check-out: 10:00 AM

Yates Park Motel is a fantastic, reliable pick if you’re on a budget or just need a practical base. Its location is strategic, putting it a short drive from both the airport and Middlemore Hospital.

This makes it convenient for appointments or early flights without the airport hotel price tag.

The rooms are clean, surprisingly spacious, comfortable, and come with kitchen facilities.

Having a stove, microwave, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a refrigerator  means you can easily sort your own meals and save a lot on food.

The free unlimited Wi-Fi and free on-site parking are huge bonuses that add to the value. It’s a no-fuss motel, not a luxury resort.

The main downside, which a few people mentioned, is the lack of air conditioning, so rooms can get warm in summer, but fans are provided.

For a clean and affordable stay, it’s a solid choice.

    Pros

    • Great value and budget-friendly
    • Self-catering kitchen facilities in rooms
    • Free unlimited Wi-Fi and free on-site parking
    • Disability Access Studio available
    • Close to Middlemore Hospital and airport

    Cons

    • No air conditioning (fans are provided)
    • Standard check-out time is 10:00 AM
    • No 24-hour reception or airport shuttle

Have been here once before so decided to come back because of the space, cleanliness and amenities you receive for the price you pay. … Management was very prompt when contacted and very accommodating to my needs. Will definitely be staying here again! 😁

    – Briarley, Booking.com

Bed was firm but okay. Rooms get pretty hot, no air con or fan to help cool the rooms down. Staff were amazing and accommodating for sure. Facilities were very clean. The rooms were spacious.

    4. Heartland Hotel Auckland Airport

    heartland-hotel-auckland-airport-logo

    Website: https://www.scenichotelgroup.co.nz/auckland/heartland-hotel-auckland-airport/

Address: 14 Airpark Drive, Airport Oaks, Auckland

    Contact: 09 275 4540 | [email protected]

    Schedule: Check-in: 2:00 PM | Check-out: 10:00 AM

What I love most about the Heartland Hotel is its free 24/7 airport shuttle. It runs constantly to both terminals, so you never have to stress about booking a taxi for an early-morning flight.

It’s located about 3km from the airport, so you can’t walk, but the shuttle service is so reliable that it doesn’t matter.

This place feels more like a relaxed resort than a sterile airport hotel, thanks to its outdoor swimming pool and spa pool.

They also offer “Park, Stay & Fly” packages, which are an amazing value if you need to leave your car. Families are well-catered for with suites that have full kitchens and interconnecting rooms.

The 10:00 AM check-out is a bit early for my liking, but for the shuttle service and facilities, it’s a fantastic, practical option.

    Pros

    • Complimentary 24/7 airport shuttle
    • Resort-style outdoor pool and spa pool
    • “Park, Stay & Fly” packages are great value
    • Family-friendly suites with kitchenettes
    • 24-hour room service

    Cons

    • Not within walking distance of terminals
    • Standard 10:00 AM check-out is early

We had two nights at this hotel, one before our trip to Fiji and one on our return. Really comfortable and very convenient parking which was great value. Food was good. The night shuttle free bus was perfect. The thing that really stood out for us were the staff though, so friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

    5. Sudima Auckland Airport

    sudima-auckland-airport-logo

    Website: https://www.sudimahotels.com/en/hotels/auckland-airport/

Address: 18 Airpark Drive, Māngere, Auckland

    Contact: 09 551 8888 | [email protected]

    Schedule: Check-in: 2:00 PM | Check-out: 11:00 AM

The Sudima at Auckland Airport stands out by actively focusing on accessibility and sustainability. It’s “Accessibility Tick” approved and even has features like Braille menus, making it a truly inclusive option.

It’s also “Toitū carbonreduce certified,” so you can feel good about your stay.

The facilities are a huge plus, especially the indoor heated swimming pool, which is a lifesaver for keeping kids entertained in any weather.

They also have a 24/7 reception and room service, which is a huge help for those awkward flight times.

The main thing to be aware of is that the airport shuttle isn’t free. What they do recommend is using the paid “Yellow Bus” service.

And here’s also a surcharge on credit card payments. Nevertheless, it serves as a modern, comfortable, sustainable, and considerate option for many travellers.

    Pros

    • Excellent accessibility features (Accessibility Tick)
    • Strong sustainability (Toitū carbonreduce certified)
    • Indoor heated swimming pool
    • 24-hour reception and 24-hour room service
    • On-site gym and restaurant

    Cons

    • Airport shuttle service is not complimentary
    • Surcharge for credit card payments
    • Tray charge for 24/7 room service

Fantastic stay, indoor pool was a must for kids esp as we travelled in winter. Gym had weights and a bench. Breakfast was one of the best for a hotel in this price range! $12 Uber ride to the airport.

    – Stephen Burrows, Google Review

Comparing this airport hotel with other airport hotels we are very happy with it. Staff are exceptionally friendly at both reception and restaurant. Of course only really required before or after international travel and we’ll probably always choose to stay here
