I once decided to give myself a DIY facial at home. Armed with a bottle of honey, a pinch of turmeric, and a YouTube tutorial, I was ready to chase the glow.
I started applying my concoction, feeling like a skincare guru—until I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror.
I looked more like a rejected audition for The Simpsons. Not even a week later, a massive red pimple appeared on my nose, solidifying the fact that maybe it’s best to leave facials to the experts.
Since then, I’ve surrendered to the professionals and sought out the best facial spas in Auckland. Through my own experiences and conversations with others, here are the spas that made it onto my list of the top facial spas in Auckland.
How much does it cost to get a facial in Auckland? Getting a basic facial in Auckland costs at least 100 NZD. The final price will vary depending on the type of facial you get and the facial spa you go to. |
How I Chose
1. The Facialist
Address: Shed 16.3/90 Wellesley Street West, Auckland CBD, Auckland 1010, New Zealand
Contact Details: +64 9 337 0023
Operating Hours: Monday to Saturday – 9:15 AM to 5 PM
If you’re into holistic beauty, The Facialist might just be your new favourite spot.
One thing everyone seems to love is their personalised approach. The experts here really take time to understand what your skin needs before starting any treatment.
The spa itself is also super relaxing. The atmosphere alone helped me unwind when I went in for my facial.
Their F.Sculpt facial is like a workout for your face. Their special massage techniques help lift, tone, and firm your skin. It’s a good choice if you want a more sculpted and youthful look.
I’ve also been told that if you’re really not sure what your skin needs, their signature facial is a great choice. It’s fully customised using organic skincare products and includes a relaxing massage.
Some people, though, have mentioned that customer service can be a bit a hit-or-miss. I thought most of the staff were lovely and professional when I went, but a few people said they didn’t feel as warmly welcomed as they’d hoped.
Pros
- Personalised treatments
- Relaxing atmosphere
- Effective F.Sculpt facial
- Great signature facial
- Uses organic skincare products
Cons
- Customer service can be hit or miss
The Facialist is unlike anything I have ever experienced
“The attention to detail from beginning to end at The Facialist is unlike anything I have ever experienced. Melody was amazing, she tailored the facial perfectly to my concerns and I left feeling so relaxed. I can’t wait to come back!”

Emily was fantastic, explained the whole process
Came in for a relaxing facial to treat myself in the middle of a stressful week. I don’t get facials often at all. Emily was fantastic, explained the whole process before she started and I had the most relaxing time. Very very comfortable set up

2. Skin Moment
Address: 6 Newton Road, Grey Lynn, Auckland 1010, New Zealand
Contact Details: [email protected]
Operating Hours:
- Tuesday – 10 AM to 8 PM
- Wednesday & Friday – 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM
- Thursday – 12 PM to 8 PM
- Saturday – 9 AM to 4 PM
Skin Moment is ideal if you’re looking for more than a quick skin fix. It’s a place to unwind, recharge, and take care of your skin from the inside out.
From what I’ve noted, they specialise in minimalist skincare approach. They keep routines simple and concentrate on inner health (like diet and hormones) to achieve great skin from the inside out.
The Ritual Facial is their signature treatment. It suits all skin types and leaves you feeling calm and refreshed. The Sculpt Facial, on the other hand, is perfect for fast, visible results. It involves a quicker massage pace to lift and firm your skin, reduce fine lines, and improve circulation.
Both facials include loads of relaxing massages included, not just quick applications of creams. This helps reduce tension and gets your blood flowing. They also add cool stuff, like meditation and breathwork, to their facial spa treatments.
We’re just a bit disappointment that appointments sometimes run a bit behind, causing slight delays. It’s a small inconvenience, but the excellent service makes up for it.
Pros
- A holistic approach to skincare
- Relaxing and calming atmosphere
- Customised facials
- Meditation practices
- Massage-focused facials
Cons
- Slight appointment delays
Super relaxing and great experience

The facial and massage was divine
I booked myself for a summer facial and went together with my friend who I bought a men’s facial for a birthday gift. Lola was really good with coordinating our booking and we were very happy with the service. The facial and massage was divine. The products used smelled really good and was so appealing to the senses. I ended up buying one of the rose mist too. Overall I felt very relaxed and my skin looked hydrated after the treatment. My friend was so thankful for the gift and told me we should make this an every 4 months or 6 months ritual for self pampering. Will definitely be back. Thank you Lola! ☺🌻🙏

3. Kumo Skin Spa
Address: 23A Jervois Road, Ponsonby, Auckland 1011, New Zealand
Contact Details: +64093600054
Operating Hours: Tuesday to Saturday – 9 AM to 5 PM
Kumo Skin Spa actually educates you about your skin’s needs, helping you make smarter decisions about its care. They’ve got these amazing facial masterclasses where you learn exactly what your skin requires and which techniques and products suit you best.
Many people go for their 60-minute Kumo Ritual Facial. The therapist kicks things off with a powerful massage that melts away all your stress.
After a thorough double cleanse and a refreshing steam, they infuse your skin with vitamins. The facial wraps up with a sublime neck, shoulder, and scalp massage, while a custom hydrating mask does its thing.
But given all the hype around their Buccal Massage, I had to try it. The facial helped reduce puffiness in my face. I walked out with clearly defined cheekbones, a lifted and toned face, and a radiant glow.
And they do have a monthly membership where you can get facials at discounted prices. But you have to be committed for 3 months.
Pros
- Skincare masterclasses
- Relaxing 60-minute Kumo Ritual Facial
- Revitalising Raw Facial
- Detoxifying buccal massage
- Monthly membership available
Cons
- Monthly membership requires a 3-month commitment
Their products felt so good, smelt heavenly
The most amazing facial from Francie! I had the Anti-Gravity facial – 90mins of bliss. Their products felt so good, smelt heavenly, and along with the Buccal massage made my face so toned, glowy and beautiful!! Francie gives a mean massage 😀 The whole experience was 10/10. Thank you Francie & Kumo, I’ll definitely be back for more facial magic.

My facial was relaxing and made my skin feel superb
Kumo as a space is tranquil and super calming. The friendly hello as soon as I walked in from Francie who was waiting for on my arrival invited a welcoming energy. Francie really listened to my concerns and gave me such informative advice, as well as product knowledge of the products I currently use and a serum she made up and supplied to help me with my skin. My facial was relaxing and made my skin feel superb! My new favourite skin specialists, thank you Francie and the team at Kumo xx

She always does what’s best for my skin
Megan is an absolute dream facialist! She’s super knowledgable, friendly, caring and I always enjoy my visits without a doubt. I’d recommend her to anyone (and already do) as I always feel looked after, she always does what’s best for my skin and doesn’t follow a cookie cutter approach. 9. Melanie Gaynor – Holistic Facialist
Address: 1A Kawau Road, Greenlane, Auckland 1061, New Zealand
Contact Details:
Operating Hours:
- Wednesday – 8:30 AM to 6 PM
- Thursday – 10 AM to 8 PM
- Friday – 9:30 AM to 6 PM
- Saturday – 9 AM to 3 PM
Melanie Gaynor’s ethos is that healthy skin comes from a balance of relaxation, nutrition, and the right skincare products. So it came as no surprise to me that she’s all about holistic facials.
When I went in for my facial, I opted for the Lift & Glow, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Melanie’s innovative and multi-layered technique for vibrant ageing works wonders.
She uses specialised massage techniques to lift, define, and smoothen the face, neck, and décolleté. I could feel the tension melting away and my skin just seemed to glow by the end of it.
Others I spoke to raved about her Light Therapy. Your skin is bathed in a safe, luminous light to boost hydration and collagen production, calm redness, and activate the skin’s natural healing processes.
Plus, if you’re really into skincare, Melanie even offers workshops where you can learn to give others facials.
The only downside is that getting an appointment can be tricky. You’ll need to book well in advance, which isn’t ideal if you’re looking for a quick fix.
Pros
- Rejuvenating holistic facials
- Variety of facial options
- Facial workshops available
Cons
- Appointments can be hard to book
Melanie didn’t disappoint at all
I love having a facial that isn’t all about the product but more about the massage. Melanie didn’t disappoint at all. It was utterly fabulous and my face felt amazing afterwards. I fully relaxed and would highly recommend!

I really enjoy my facials & chats with Mel, and her expert guidance with managing more sensitive skin. The new luminosity facial with that amazing Dermalux LED is quite something else. I loved every bit of it, & my skin has so enjoyed it too! I’ll be back for more x
