If you’re looking for a place that masters hearty, indulgent pub food with a vibrant kick, this is it. Greenlane Gastro Pub isn’t for a quiet, formal meal.
It’s where you go with a group, ready to have fun and eat a lot. Their menu is packed with classics, but the real stars are the massive sharing boards and food-challenge-style dishes.
We tackled the Carnivore Board on our last visit, and it was an absolute feast. It arrived loaded with brisket and spicy wings. It’s pretty much a fantastic centrepiece for a group catch-up.
The atmosphere is always lively and social, with big screens playing sports and lots of chatter. This makes it a popular choice for post-work get-togethers or rowdy weekend meals.

They’ve been doing this since 1996. Their menu is modern New Zealand cuisine, focusing on fresh, carefully sourced ingredients that shine without unnecessary fuss.
What I truly appreciate here is the vibe. It’s upscale, with white tablecloths and attentive service, but you don’t feel like you need to whisper.
The dining room is warm and inviting. As a result, many guests choose it for an anniversary or a celebratory meal.
The food is also consistently impressive. Think perfectly cooked steak or delicate local fish.
Plus, the convenience of over 200 free car parks nearby is a massive, underrated bonus in Auckland.
Just remember, you can’t always just walk in. Reservations are pretty much essential, especially on weekends.

This spot appeals to groups with mixed tastes, as it focuses heavily on premium seafood and sashimi. When I went, I was genuinely impressed by the quality of the fresh oysters and the teppan grill.
Watching the chef cook up scallops and steak to order right in front of me was a highlight, and it’s not something you see at every buffet. The focus extends beyond quantity here.
The restaurant also accommodates families well, offering a great atmosphere for kids (under 4s to eat free!) and discounts for seniors.
Do note that it’s a managed, structured experience, so you have to arrive on time for your booking.
Because it’s so popular, the table time limits can also feel a bit restrictive if you’re planning a long, lingering dinner.

I’ve often met friends here for the High Tea, which is a fantastic treat. The scones are always fresh, and the selection of small bites is impressive.
The bistro menu also stands out, focusing on seasonal dishes that feel a step above typical park-café fare.
Naturally, being in such a prime park location, it gets very busy, especially on sunny weekends, so expect a crowd and potentially a wait for a table.
