I was left in excruciating pain because of the botched procedure. The weeks of recovery even felt like years. Because of this experience, I wanted to make sure no one else would have to endure the kind of suffering I did.
So, the rest of the Auckland Magazine team and I researched and interviewed the best oral surgeons in the area.

We also love Dr. Cameron’s different approach. His calm demeanor and simple explanations help ease dental anxiety.
Aside from that, we value his willingness to offer follow-up appointments for hesitant patients. This thoughtful approach helps address potential risks.
We’re also giving his clinic a 10/10 rating. It’s clean and modern, exuding a true sense of professionalism and comfort.
The staff were equally impressive. They efficiently handled the consultation, making the entire experience seamless.

Nigel Parr’s clinic feels warm and inviting. It’s a refreshing contrast to the sterile, impersonal dental offices we’ve encountered elsewhere.
We were impressed by his expertise across a wide range of procedures. These include everything from wisdom tooth removal to complex implant placement and reconstructive surgery.
His expertise in wisdom tooth removal left us in awe. He was meticulous in his approach, using anesthetics carefully to ensure a comfortable experience for all.
The way he provides pain management tips after procedures is something we truly appreciate. His commitment to ensuring a comfortable recovery is what we’re really after.
Apart from that, we must commend the welcoming staff. They immediately put us at ease, leaving a lasting impression on us.
But there’s a drawback. While he explains procedures well, some patients felt rushed and wished for more time to discuss their treatment plans.

Dr. Cathro is a highly qualified and experienced oral and maxillofacial surgeon. We appreciate how his passion shines through his mannerisms. It instills confidence and trust in his care.
We were immediately put at ease by his warm and friendly personality. We like how he’s very down-to-earth in taking the time to explain things clearly.
We’re very pleased to learn that Dr. Cathro uses advanced techniques like the Galileos 3D X-ray machine. It gives him a detailed view of your mouth for a more accurate treatment plan.
His use of laser technology is another standout feature. Thanks to this, one patient noted that it made the procedure completely painless.
However, higher costs are to be expected with all this advanced technology. If you’re looking for a more affordable option, it’s important to consider your budget.

I came in to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed and as a very anxious teenager i was panicking for days before the surgery but when i arrived i was so calm! The IV for sedation was put in so well i couldn’t even feel it, in fact i think i fell asleep before they even sedated me! Woke up and everything was completed and i was ready to go home. What a wonderful experience with such highly trained staff. Thank you so much for taking such good care of me, I never got a chance to thank everybody including the very kind reception staff. **recovered well within 7 days and had very little swelling/bruising after!”

On top of that, we loved the vibe at Dr. Jattan’s office. It felt so modern and spotless, so we were comfortable enough.
However, we were a bit frustrated of the parking situation. The office has limited parking, and we found it quite challenging to find a spot.

“I have had the pleasure of knowing Rakesh for roughly 5 years now. After a rough journey he recently completed a TMJ replacement to correct my deteriorating joint. Dr. Choi’s extensive background and and credentials is truly impressive. He holds a bachelor’s degree in dental surgery and a master’s degree with distinction in oral and maxillofacial surgery. It’s a solid academic foundation for his work.
Adding to that, we felt reassured that he brings over a decade of experience. This includes training at Dunedin Public Hospital, and it shows from what we’ve experienced.
But what really impressed us was the way he translated that knowledge into practice. We observed him to be meticulous, particularly in implant dentistry. He made the whole operation feel comfortable.
However, there was one area that didn’t quite hit the mark. One area that could use improvement is communication. He sometimes leaves patients with unanswered questions, and that can be frustrating.
Ensures easy and comfortable procedures

Furthermore when I came back a few months later with a gum issue that I thought was related to the surgery (turns out it wasn’t), Dr. Han saw me immediately, quickly diagnosed the problem, and suggested a remedy that saw me right within a few days. He didn’t even charge me for the consultation. On top of that I received a free scale and polish around the affected area to ensure no further complications.
