We might have earned a cavity or two doing the research for this one, but do we really care? After hopping from one dessert shop to another, we can confidently say that Auckland really is a sweet-tooth’s paradise.
From upscale stores to cozy patisseries, the city has all the sweet shops you can imagine. That said, our personally handpicked list of the best spots for dessert in Auckland is finally ready!

Gore Street’s Giapo is a hotspot for ice cream and gelato lovers, dishing out what they call ‘haute ice cream’ and they nail it! As soon as you step into their store, you’re greeted by a friendly host, ready to assist you with your candy shopping.
You’ll find some wild combos like chorizo with caramel and a Greek ‘akataifi’ pastry or chocolate and blue cheese – sounds beyond this world, but definitely worth a try if you’re feeling adventurous. But don’t worry, all the classics are covered too, done up just right.
On top of that, Giapo takes its ice cream game seriously, offering a five-flavor tasting menu and a bunch of fancy cones covered in artisan chocolates, yogurts, and sprinkles.
All in all, when it comes to ice cream and gelato, there is no better offering than this dessert destination. Plus, they are entirely gluten-free, so you can indulge without the guilt of breaking your diet.
VANIYÉ Patisserie

Every morning, their display is filled with fresh pastries and cakes, and you can even order online through their website.
Vaniyé rocks the classics like millefeuille, croissants, and éclairs, but the real gems are pastry chef Sonia Haumonte’s designer cakes. They’re simply perfect for birthdays, weddings, or any special occasion.
You will also find vegetarian savory tarts and filled baguette rolls for lunch. And even though they close in the evenings, you can always grab your dessert to-go for dinner.

And as a bonus, this means their dessert menu is available around the clock!
They might not have a huge dessert selection, but what they do have is seriously tasty. Picture raspberry sorbet scoops and gelato sticks in flavors like raspberry & vanilla, blueberry & cheesecake, strawberry & pistachio, and more.
Plus, they also serve cheese plates and even dessert cocktails and wines if you’re in the mood for a more ‘mature’ dessert experience.

While everything is amazing, the chocolate volcano is an absolute must-try. It has salted caramel mousse, coffee cake, crunchy chocolate sponge, vanilla milk foam, and salted caramel chocolate sauce.
It’s no surprise why it’s called a volcano – it practically erupts with flavor. Really the perfect treat if you’re obsessed with sweets.
And that’s not all – they also serve up Belgian waffles, chai lattes, dark chocolate & salted caramel ice cream drinks, and cocktails. All of which our staff tried and loved – including our friends who aren’t exactly into sweets.
