Swanson Road Veterinary Clinic has been a local favorite for years. One thing that stood out to us is their dedication to educating pet owners and empowering them to make the best choices for their pets.
Their care for senior pets also deserves a special mention. Regular “nose-to-tail” exams help catch potential health issues early, like one cat owner who discovered their pet’s kidney problem in time to take action.
We also loved their online booking system—a lifesaver for busy pet parents like us.
However, there have been occasional hiccups with appointment cancellations not being properly communicated. This can be very frustrating, especially if you’ve taken time out of your day or rearranged your schedule.

“Dr. Danielle and Dr. Sue are both very gentle and caring with our cats. The nurses and reception staff are also very informative and helpful. Everyone’s really nice, friendly and kind. Recently, we had one of our cats get a dental extraction and the service was great – from the drop off to the next day after the procedure when one of the nurses kindly gave us a follow up call to see how our kitty was doing. We saw all these firsthand when they helped one person’s cat with arthritis. They came up with a plan that included pain management and nutritional counseling, and we find that impressive.
Their cardiology services are awesome, too. They’re equipped to handle even the most complex heart conditions, which is really reassuring.
Another thing we really liked was their behavioral counseling services. They take a really kind approach to help pets with behavior problems. We appreciate that they work with anxious pets and create custom training programs, too.
However, we were disappointed that one of our concerns wasn’t taken seriously. When we requested our pet’s medication, the staff member we approached seemed rushed and impatient. It left us feeling dismissed.

“Would highly recommend Auckland Veterinary Hospital. We came to them for a second opinion. The vet was very thorough and explained everything in terms that were easy to understand. We were only with them for about a month but they were very accomodating and were able to see us whenever we called, squeezing us in at very short notice when needed. They even followed up with phone calls to see how our dog was doing. We were also made very comfortable when it came time to say goodbye. They went above and beyond with our dog’s care and we will continue to recommend to others. My only regret was not coming to them sooner!”

Emergency care is another big win for them. They’re available even after their listed operating hours. It’s such a relief because let’s face it, pet emergencies don’t happen on a schedule.
What really blew us away, though, is their focus on animal dentistry. From cleanings to extractions and even restorative work, they’ve got it all covered.
And the results? No more bad breath or gum disease for their pets. It’s the kind of transformation that makes you wish you’d brought them in sooner.
However, we found dealing with rude staff disappointing. Good communication is so important, and it can be frustrating when it’s lacking.
