From Sunday 24 March secret ‘fukubukuro’ street poster portals will pop up in locations around Auckland’s CBD and Ponsonby. Inspired by the traditional Japanese ‘lucky bag’ custom, these discoverable portals will contain prizes from Stolen Girlfriends Club, Asics and the upcoming new look Asahi AKAI DOA dining experience.
The concept of fukubukuro or ‘lucky bag’, hails from the hugely popular Japanese celebration where retailers give mystery bags to shoppers. There is no guarantee what you will find inside each bag, but they never disappoint.
The Asahi Super Dry bottle will become a physical gateway to an authentic Japanese experience hidden behind selected street posters. There will be 100 #EnterAsahi street posters dotted around Auckland but only a few will be a doorway hidden in plain sight, containing a fukubukuro gift.
There will be 140 chances to discover an #EnterAsahi fukubukuro bag and inside each one the public can expect to find one of 40 limited edition Asahi X Stolen Girlfriends Club T-shirts, one of 40 vouchers for limited edition Asahi X Asics sneakers or one of 60 double passes to the new look Asahi AKAI DOA dining experience launching at Las Vegas Club on K-Rd Auckland mid-April.
Asahi Super Dry Marketing Manager Stephanie Scard says, “Asahi Super Dry is Japan’s number one beer and we’re bringing a little piece of Japanese culture to Ponsonby and the CBD by creating these discoverable, fukubukuro street posters. Keep an eye on your Instagram and you might discover a few clues as to their whereabouts.”
A very unique #EnterAsahi portal will be popping up in front of Las Vegas Club K-Rd from 12-2pm 4th, 5th and 6th of April. The chef behind Azabu and Ebisu will be offering passers-by a unique sneak preview tasting of the new look Asahi AKAI DOA 6-course menu.
