The time has come for us to spoil our mums and treat them to a day they truly deserve. After all, they have to deal with our moaning, nagging and wingeing 364 days of the year - so it's fair to say they deserve a day just for them, whether that's wining and dining, going on a hike or simply chilling on the sofa at home. As the big day is just around the corner, we've put together some of the exciting Mother's Day events that Auckland has to offer (You can thank us later).
Treat your mum like a Queen this mother days with a High Tea experience – but this isn’t any ordinary high tea, it’s a Russian high tea. Think Caviar and King Crab served with something slightly stronger than your average English Breakfast. Surrounded by chandeliers and red velvet seating, you’ll be sure to feel like royalty as you are waited on hand and foot as the delicious miniature dishes keep on coming.
Celebrate the wonderful women in your life at the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT), where they will be hosting a 1950’s inspired day full of fashion, music, vintage cars and clothing. Whether you’re a mother, grandmother, daughter, granddaughter you are bound to love this family fun event. Pamper your mum in the relaxing pamper parlour or take for a spin in one of the vintage cars on display. So, with all of this in mind make sure to put on your glad rags and head on down to MOTAT this Sunday.
You’ve Got To Get Out this Mother’s Day and there is no better way than getting together and sharing the experience with other amazing families. Got To Get Out are hosting a free Mother’s Day hike and picnic in Mission Bay. Starting from Auckland’s Viaduct you’ll begin the walk to Mission Bay where you then can play games on the beach or simply just take in the stunning view together. If kayaking or paddle boarding is your thing then you can hire equipment along the beach and hit the water together.
There is nothing like saying you love somebody than by making them laugh – share the laughs this Mother’s Day at NZ International Comedy Festival. With a range of shows to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Welcome in Mother’s Day at ‘A Very Notorious Late Night Show’ where the show kicks off at 11.30pm or watch ‘Charlie’s Best Comey Show on Earth’ on the 13th, where some of the best comedians take to the stage.
Get your creative juices flowing at this unique little craft workshop were they believe mums should be honoured with handmade cards and letters to express your love and gratitude for them. Create something special for your mum or make something together with floral art, felting, embroidery, beading or crochet. After the workshops sit back and unwind with a homely afternoon tea, you're guaranteed to leave having spent some quality time together.
